Well, i would suggest to wait at least for an hour after eating a heavy meal. Your body needs some time to digest the food and if you don't provide that time for your body, there will be some bad side effects and one of them is sleep interuption. You can get worse side effects if you go to sleep with full stomach such as choking while asleep and it is possible to die this way!
I have also suffered what you describe, after having eaten a large amount of food, i went to bed afterwards and i had an awful sleep, my stomach wasn't feeling well too. So try to eat light meals at night and wait 30 minites or better an hour and then go to sleep. Also try to avoid watching TV or sit on your computer one hour before going to bed. You will sleep better, trust me. Try reading some books instead.
