It's interesting that they advertise it as a way to enjoy music. I think if I got one, I would set it to a single tone for constant stimulation/relief.

With grandiose claims like that, that thing better have a very lenient return policy (90 days or more), so if people don't feel the nervana, they can send that little device nervana'ing back to its warehouse. Offering such a flashy, innovative product together with such sensational claims without letting a buyer actually try it for himself would be very weird indeed.

Moreover, like Scary Sheep said, if tried, it should be used without any music whatsoever for testing purposes (initially at least). High fidelity music alone would make anyone feel good, so that would completely ruin any type of efficacy test relating to stimulation.

Prancer, thanks for your sobering remarks!

It's so easy to get caught up in a new supposed "cure" that we forget science! (And common sense!)

...and our wallets!!

WARNING: let's wait for final Rutgers publication of our POIS study to see if & how tVNS works!

I emailed Nervana and they said they have a 30 day customer satisfaction guarantee and a 1 year manufacturer's warranty. With this in mind and the $10 off from the indiegogo site, I see no harm in trying it out. If it helps, then it's the cheapest VNS treatment on the market, otherwise, I could send it back.

EDIT: The stimulator has been ordered. I will use it for a few weeks then report back.

I received my refund from Nervana at the end of December, so I figured I better update this now. Simply put, I felt no relief from POIS symptoms with the Nervana VNS. I would use it for a few hours a day during POIS at different times throughout the day and in extended 2+ hour sessions. I tried it in combination with niacin, fenugreek, ibuprofen and other "treatments" as well as without any. With all this in mind, I determined that I was not getting any positive relief from the Nervana unit and returned it. This does not mean that VNS treatment does not work for POIS, but it does mean that the Nervana over the counter unit didn't work for me.

Scary sheep, many thanks for reporting your valiant attempt at POIS relief with Nervana!

I got one as well. I does work but the device is pretty primitive. In my experience you need to use with a good eletro conductive gel (which the maker does not advise you). I use the device as an addition to my medicated regime. I have had a few distinct sensations indicating nerve being "fired up" and stimulated.

I used the saline spray pretty generously and definitely felt some sort of simulation of the nerve, (pulsing in the forehead, ear "muscles" moving involuntarily), but I felt no physical or mental relief from it.

This device might call itself VNS device but the vagal stimulation can not be transmitted where their ear buds rest. So to me it looks like a gimmick. If you ever see the real ones used in the study then you can see the difference. And I believe insurance covers the real device is you can get your doc to prescribe it..

Disaster, thank you for that!

Never realized Rx -- and INSURANCE (Blue Cross, too??) might be possible for tVNS!

Best,
