As a child (younger than eight) I experienced about four high grade fevers, possibly five, which were greater than 104 F. I was hospitalized for two of the four fevers. Three of the fevers fevers were related to chronic ear and sinus infections while only one seemed to be viral. I experienced no more high grade fevers after having my adenoids removed at age eight.
I mention fever related illness specifically because the hypothalamus regulates body temperature and "PGE2(prostoglandin E2) release comes from the arachidonic acid pathway," and signals the body to heat up upon reaching the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus' role is a very interesting one in the body and you should look it up if you get a chance.
Please feel free to express or share as much or little as you want or know about your fever related illnesses from the past!
