Congratulations Animus! Sounds like ya' dun good... although they don't show TLC here!

I've really been POIS out these couple of days, so haven't had the energy to post, but this one deserves a post.

Can't wait to see it!

Good for you and thanks for the great effort.

WITHOUT RESEARCH THERE WILL BE NO CURE!

Animus--

Bravo!!!!!  Bravissimo!!!!

This will DEFINITELY pave the way for more awareness-raising.  Perhaps the TLC producer can now help you (and/or) the forum to get in contact with other producers or reporters. :-)  Strike while the iron is hot! (Speaking to everyone, not just Animus.)

FYI, Animus--you do not look like an "Animus!"  MUCH handsomer. :-)

Thank you so much, nordnurse! I think they're going to show it in Europe on the discovery channel this summer. I got an email to that effect. They also might interview me for a radio show. Its hopefully another opportunity for publicity and awareness.

quoted from demografx:
Animus, if I may ask...

1. How long did your brutal POIS episodes last in their 'heyday'? They would last from 5 to 7 days. The symptoms would peak I think early on day 2, and gradually fade. On the last day something would "click" inside me and I would feel normal again.

2. Is POIS 'absolutely zero' now for you? (This is part of a larger question that I have of non-POISers, i.e., "Is there truly a 100% Zero-negative-aftereffect possible with orgasm? Or are there SOME - perhaps lasting very briefly - mild postorgasmic symptoms that EVERYONE experiences?")  Yes, I have no incidence of POIS anymore. And I have nearly 100% dry ejaculation. The only symptoms I get are the relaxed feeling of wanting a nap. I am actually forgetting now when I have had an orgasm, because there is no trace of it the next day.

3. Do you need to moderate your sexual frequency? That's an interesting question. I do moderate my sexual activity, because part of me doesn't want to push it too much. But I have O'd up to 3x in a week without trouble. Normally I'm at 1 or 2x.

4. Were you prepared for the possibility that your POIS was caused by something ELSE and that the surgeries wouldn't cure your POIS? Or were you rock-solid-confident of semen-causation?
I had a very strong intuition that it was semen-caused because of my experience.  I think it's a strong theory that dry-ejaculation & minimizing semen production will stop POIS. Until it's proven no one can be rock-solid confident, but I'm as close to that as possible. Personally, I was very optimistic that it would work- if everything went well...  My biggest worry was to lose the ability to have erections and orgasms because of nerve damage, or some complication. I took every precaution to eliminate that risk, but it was still a risk.

But if it didn't work, it would have still have been worth it to me- because I was determined to solve this problem, and I would have eliminated one more theory and been one step closer.

Hi, Animus,

I watched the show. It is a big milestone for this illness, and you did it well.
So congratulation, and huge thanks from me.
It would be great if it will be show in Europe in the future as you said before.

I have a question. Did you had symptoms (moderate ones) only from being aroused, without ejaculation before surgery?
Mild symptoms appear sometimes after being aroused.

Best regards,
Emi_B

Thank you very much for such a comprehensive reply.

Your courage, determination, precision, and follow-through is more than admirable. It is quite simply...astounding.

I am asking because I have mild symptoms sometimes after being aroused, and I don't know how this could be related to a reaction to semen, if the semen isn't produced. Maybe there is a small amount that is made and remain inside, and make you fell ill.

Best regards,
Emi_B

Thank you, Emi_B.  Yes, I also would get mild POIS symptoms if I was aroused. I would also get some fluid flow- probably "pre-ejaculate" fluids. There is a pre-ejaculate fluid that the body produces before the semen is expelled. I think it has a number of purposes...  I've heard that it neutralizes acidity so that the sperm will survive. There are definitely some fluids produced even during arousal.

I think I did most of my blood tests out of POIS. I did have an MRI with no abnormality.
I did also have my prostate checked while in POIS, and it showed problems. While out of POIS it showed no problems. So it was aggravated by POIS.
It would be interesting to see what your "baseline" is, and then get it checked again while you're in POIS, to see the difference.

In the Netherlands even patienst with prostate cancer are advised not to remove the prostate. Because removing the prostate brings soms side-effects. There is a risk of incontinence. And the sex life changes dramaticly.
I don't say this will happen to everyone who gets his prostate removed. But the risk is there.
POIS since 2000. Very bad since 2008. I knew that I have POIS since June 2010. Desensitization since March 2011. I stopped with desens in July 2016. I have 50% less POIS. And only 1 day of POIS. Purified CBD works for me, but I am allergic for CBD.

It's also done as a last resort here too. Yes there are risks in prostatectomy. They include incontinence, and inability to gain an erection. Mainly because of the many nerves in that region. There have been advances in that surgery with robotics now. There is a system called Da Vinci in USA that is becoming more common. This greatly reduces the risks because it is much more precise. But it's also pretty expensive. The only way to get your prostate removed here is to have a cancer diagnosis.

Hi Animus:
TLC and you did a great job. Your influence made the show profoundly clearer and
not at all sensational.

With the surgeries, what kind of medical speciality would specialize in TURP -
would it be a oncologyst? I realize you did research in the procedures,
but what specialists proved knowledgeable in your research?
