Suggestions for the Compendium.
« on: April 29, 2011, 08:01:34 AM »
Use this thread a a central point to reunite any suggestions for the Compendium.
The editors will be checking here regularly.

Thanks.
WITHOUT RESEARCH THERE WILL BE NO CURE!
Sessions 5 to 9 days, mostly Flu-like, joints, digestion problems, light cognitive.
Niacin has changed my lif though, now 1 day MAX.
Somewhere in this interaction with Niacin is the answer!

Very good report Cornelius. Very interesting. Nothing like being somewhat normal. Hope it gets you back on your feet again and can save your job!

Taking Saw Palmetto pills daily has had a significant impact on my ability to function day-to-day. I went from unemployed to able to go into work full-time + get a moderate amount of work done (but still getting reviews saying "concentrate / focus more"), This was much better than staying at home hiding in the dark.

I take 3 x 400mg Saw Palmetto pills daily, which is more than the package recommends (but there's no basis for that... ). It's an arbitrary amount, and I haven't experimented with it.

Thanks for this information, Cornelius. I intend to try saw palmetto after I try niacin pills. Could you post the link where you order your saw palmetto pills from for me?

I believe it might help me masturbate less since I do it multiple times daily and I think it might be causing permanent damage to my body.

Hi Vincent Marcus,

Could you share with me some details about the antihistamines?  Specifically, the brand, dosage, frequency, what symptoms were improved (cognitive, physical, etc), how well the symptoms were improved (10% 50%...etc), and whatever else you'd like to add.  The same information for saw palmetto and niacin, if possible.  I know niacin has been around for quiet some time now, so I'll be rummaging through the forum about it, but definitely want to know your experience.

Taking Saw Palmetto pills daily has had a significant impact on my ability to function day-to-day. I went from unemployed to able to go into work full-time + get a moderate amount of work done (but still getting reviews saying "concentrate / focus more"), This was much better than staying at home hiding in the dark.

About a month ago, an order that I made online was delayed, and I didn't have any Saw Palmetto for the month. I have ended up incapable of working, panic attacks, more irritable. As the month went on, I ended up suicidal and went off work for medical leave. I didn't manage to organise myself well enough to go out and buy some, always taking the approach that "the package will come, I'll just wait". I had no internal sense of how bad things had (suddenly) gotten, nor did I make the connection with the Saw Palmetto. Only after telling my fiancée about it, and her buying some did things start to get better. Right now, I'm still off work, but am getting more cogent + am starting to organise looking for medical help for the POIS again. In retrospect, I had managed at work for 4 months, and it suddenly fell apart at almost the same time as I ran out of Saw Palmetto. I'm willing to correlate the two, and would recommend that others try it.

Who knows if it's the placebo effect or not, but with the fenugreek, it makes my life much more bearable.

I take 3 x 400mg Saw Palmetto pills daily, which is more than the package recommends (but there's no basis for that... ). It's an arbitrary amount, and I haven't experimented with it.

If you look up wiki, it says that people take it for urinary tract infections. here.

Will certainly add this as well.

Claritin improves my physical pois symptoms by about 50%. I'm not sure about cognitive symptoms. I take the generic version of claritin, called Loratadine, from the brand, equate. I take one 10mg tablet about an hour before ejaculation. I think claritin only works if taken before "o". It's been working for at least 4 months now I think - I'll have to check my notes on that. Edit- It's actually been working for more than 5 months now.

Saw Palmetto also reduces my physical symptoms, but to a lesser extent. Maybe by about 15%. I used to get pain during urination and bowel movements during pois and saw palmetto solved that for the most part, but it also reduces my joint pain and other physical pois. I take one Swanson brand 540mg capsule about 15min before orgasm. Edit- This has also been working for more than 5 months.

As far as the other members who use these I know GoingCrazy recently found claritin to work for him and there are at least 3 others who use antihistamines, but I'll have to look around a bit to find their posts. Animus still uses saw palmetto even though he is already cured.

I'll get to Niacin later.

So that makes 9 total members who have experienced some benefit from antihistamines. 4 of those 9 have experienced repeated significant reduction in POIS symptoms from Claritin. It's possible there are a few more members, but I think that's enough for now.

Pyropeach, for the information on Niacin you should read Mellivora's niacin summary. I just looked it over and it seems like it has all the info you'll need as it has a summary of the positive effects it's had on 21 pois members, including my personal experience with niacin. It's at this link:

http://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=235.msg2958#msg2958

Edit- Just realized my summary doesn't say the brand I used. The brand was Nature's Way and I used normal niacin (nicotinic acid) that causes a flush. The capsules are 100mg each.
