Discussion Desensitization Procedures
« on: April 23, 2011, 08:58:08 AM »
There's already another thread for Desensitization discussion, but as suggested by Willem on the other forum, I'm opening this topic for more detailed step by step procedures.

We can note the procedures that seem to work the best here, so as to have them all in one place.

Anyone who wants to help finding posts and copy pasting them here, it would be appreciated. I'll be trying to do the same.

WITHOUT RESEARCH THERE WILL BE NO CURE!
Sessions 5 to 9 days, mostly Flu-like, joints, digestion problems, light cognitive.
Niacin has changed my lif though, now 1 day MAX.
Somewhere in this interaction with Niacin is the answer!

Thanks for starting this daveman.  When I get a chance I'll start playing around with a home dilution kit and post any findings.

For any type of subcutaneous stuff it would be great to get instructions on how to keep everything sterile.  I'm much less worried about sterility for a sub-lingual desensitization.

I'm a little wary about the sub-lingual method for a couple of reasons:
  • destructive action of saliva
  • efficency a fair bit less than sub-cutaneous

If sub-cutaneous takes 2 or 3 yrs, how long would it take for sub-lingual.
How about inter-nasal (snort)? Better efficiency than sub-lingual?

If frozen is used, the efficiency is less as well.

One question we may need to answer is, "Can you undergo desensitization while on anti-histamines?"  For Dr. Waldinger's study, he adjusted the dilution based on the weal size, but wouldn't have been able to determine the weal size if the patient were on anti-histamines.

It would be interesting to see if anti-histamines(A/H) actually effect wheal size. You would expect them to, but as it has been found that A/H doesn't seem to help POIS much, maybe they wouldn't effect the wheal either.

It´s my impression though that A/H doesn't seem to have much effect over POIS because it only effects the type I reaction, which is only part of POIS for most of us.

A/H (levocetirazine-prescription only in the UK) does provide me with relief, particularly in the first two days of a POIS cycle. The downside with A/H is as most users experience is that they make you drowsy. I take only once in the morning on the first day of POIS cycle then the rest in the evening before I go to bed. It's a little harder to get out of bed in the morning but once I'm up and have done my 1 hour morning meditation I feel OK to face the world. I still get this phase at about POIS cycle day 4/5 where I feel that all my actions are so dogmatic. I wonder if this is type IV immune response kicking in after the type I is finishing. The latter is just a reflection though with no real proof!
