Thyme infusion for curing headaches
« on: September 14, 2012, 09:05:24 AM »
Hello all,

This is my first post! It feels so good to be amongst people who understand POIS!

What I find most intriguing about POIS is that the food we eat has a huge impact on our condition. I tried vitamin B and it minimized about half my symptoms. I still need to try fenugreek and olive leaf extract...

I would like to know if some of you experience the same thing:

Sometimes when I'm in the POIS recovery phase, I get a very strong headache. It doesn't feel AT ALL like a normal headache. There's no fever, no sinus inflammation but the pain is almost unbearable.  All I could do when I had those episodes was to wrap my head in something hot, lie down and sleep over it.

Luckily, I have found a very simple remedy: a thyme infusion. The first relief signs are quick (about 10 minutes after ingestion). A total relief follows after approx. 1-2 hours.

To prepare a thyme infusion, simply buy some thyme at your local grocery (fresh thyme is best, dried thyme works also very well). Put approx. 2-4 teaspoons of thyme in a cup. Fill the cup with boiling water. Let infuse 15 minutes before drinking.

Constant POIS since I was 16. Symptoms include: Chronic fatigue, Tachycardia, Spinal Inflammation, recurring sore throat, headache, blurry eyes and Brain fog.

Guess nobody felt like they had anything to say at the time you posted this. Thanks for your suggestion about the thyme remedy for headaches. Which B vitamin did you try?
Taking ginger tea, no wheat, fenugreek+green tea/garlic, saw palmetto, niacin, boswellia, huperzine, B complex and nutmeg. See my treatment summary post for more info: http://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=81.msg3513#msg3513

Vincent,

  It was a B complex (mostly B1, B3, B5, B6 and B12 vitamins).

By the way, I discovered that I had a candida outgrowth problem. The signs where very subtle and much less evident than someone suffering from candidiasis. It seems to me that the headaches where caused by a Jarisch-Herxheimer type reaction. The thyme infusion for me is 100% effective against this reaction.

I have controlled my candida by taking a special blend of enzymes. I don't have those headaches anymore.

So my advice here is: If you have regular (approx. once per week) intense headaches and taking a thyme infusion blocks the pain, you might want to check for a candida outgrowth.

Sameer7777,

A thyme infusion is a natural remedy. Very simple to do. All you need is thyme and hot water (re-read my first post for details).

Usually thyme is used as a spice for cooking. So you can buy it at a grocery store in the spice section. It is pretty common. Even if you don't find any where you live, you can still order some for a small price.

As for vitamin B, it's just that it also helps alleviate my POIS symptoms. For curing headaches, only thyme is needed.

Sameer7777,

Thyme contains thymol. Thymol is an antiseptic and an antifungal. It can even be used to treat acne. Thyme has been used for a long time to treat headaches.

Keep in mind that there are different type of headaches with different causes. What I'm saying here is that thyme was 100% efficient against my recurring headaches caused (most likely) by a candida die-off reaction.

Thyme might or might not work for you. I guess the only way to know for sure is to try it.

number six, could you list your other POIS symptoms besides headaches so I can add the data to my members symptoms/treatments compilation?

Even though you've been away for some time, your contributions are always fair and objective with the sole interest of furthering the POIS cause.

Thanks Vincent M.

I see your list of personal remedies is growing. Looks like an interesting combination. How are you doing these days?

WITHOUT RESEARCH THERE WILL BE NO CURE!
Sessions 5 to 9 days, mostly Flu-like, joints, digestion problems, light cognitive.
Niacin has changed my lif though, now 1 day MAX.
Somewhere in this interaction with Niacin is the answer!

I do try to be as fair as possible especially in the midst of controversy. And thank you, Daveman, for continuing to keep this site in tip-top shape. I was pretty happy to find that you and Demo have been active while I was away.
Health-wise I'm stable, meaning I haven't gotten any worse since I've taken my break. Money is my primary problem atm, which is why I'll be taking another break from here since I need to focus all of my effort towards finding employment. Glad that you've found a treatment that is superior even to niacin for you.
