POIS by personality type
« on: August 21, 2012, 02:30:28 PM »
I'm interested because I'm wondering whether there's any correlation between our personality types, the relative dopamine versus acetyl-choline neurotransmitter dominance and POIS.  I'm an INTJ and I'm wondering if most of us fall into *NT* types.

You can do the test here http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/jtypes2.asp
if you're interested.

Should I answer as if I were in POIS or out of it? Because the answers will not be the same. My own personality test: Mr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hide.

hhmm, my personality doesn't change when in POIS. I'm just "me" but a bit frustrated. I'd suggest just doing the personality type survey, answering how you think you are most of the time and seeing what answer it produces.

I'm an INFP, but I think i've got some INTP attributes too, especially as I have aged
Turmeric and Rosemary 30-45 minutes before orgasm for anti-inflammatory and immune support has helped me a lot. Faster and easier than niacin approach.

It gave me a score of ISTJ. I had POIS while trying it, but my answers would be the same without POIS.

INTP
10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business

INTP
Pretty close to an INTP myself, just a bit more J than P apparently. Guess that's why I'm grumpy sometimes. I blame the parents :)

Anyway that's another one for the Introverted iNtuition camp. Only 5 responders so far so there's not much we can learn yet.

Certainly INTP.
It started ever since my first orgasm. It lasts exactly for 7 days. Symptoms mainly in the brain: extreme mental  fatigue, difficulty concentrating, inability to comprehend/retain what is read,shortened attention span, loss of speech fluency, cloudy mindedness, mild headache, and anxiousness

They say that us INTJs are fairly rare! 4%.

WITHOUT RESEARCH THERE WILL BE NO CURE!
Sessions 5 to 9 days, mostly Flu-like, joints, digestion problems, light cognitive.
Niacin has changed my lif though, now 1 day MAX.
Somewhere in this interaction with Niacin is the answer!

Starsky, I have to worry about the Jeckyl/Hyde effect as well, lol. My personality defiantly varies w/ extreme POIS symptoms.  Interesting little test, I feel as thought POIS has defiantly shaped and changed my personality over the years forcing me to be more creative and accepting, while constantly searching for clarity objectivity in the world. Scored INTJ.
37 yo M- POIS for 25yrs (since age 12). Chronic POIS- always there

Tried desensitization for 1.5yrs & was unsuccessful (POIS worse at 1/1000)

Exercising- (running/weights/situps) Low sugar diet. Supplements- limited success.Meds- Oxcarbazepine/Buspar (past-Depakote10yrs)

Very small sample so far but it's interesting that we're 60% NT's (which are rare personality types in the overall population) and 90% IN's. If we had more responses, we could say that there's a tendency for POIS sufferers who identify themselves as such to be IN's or intuitive introverts. Interesting.
