Did anyone use Propecia / Proscar / Finesterid?
« on: July 29, 2012, 05:06:01 AM »
Did anyone use Propecia / Proscar / Finesterid anytime in your life? Even it was only one pill...  My problems started when stopping this drug. You take the drug to stop hairloss or if you have problems with your prostate.
My question is if this drug is the cause for my POIS...

Have you visited the forum: propeciahelp.com ? Is there anyone with the same problem? Ive heard that many get prostatitis from taking this drug, a prostatitis could lead to development of POIS.

Yes I know this forum. I found a link on that site that led me here some months ago. This drug causes a lot of side effects after quitting. A lot of guys have erectional dysfunction. But there are also some guys that feel bad for days after an ejaculation. They get depressed and anxous and have brainfog.
When I found this site, I could totally relate to the POIS Symptoms. I also tried every natural supplement the guys on propeciahelp.com suggested and nothing helped. First thing that helped since I have these problems (february 2011) was Niacin,  what I read about here the first time - So thanks alot for this!!!!

So what I am wondering now is, what is the relation between POIS and this drug. Are more guys here that developed POIS by using this drug. Can this drug trigger POIS. Is it maybe the cause of POIS. Is there a relation between POIS and the Post Finesterid Syndrom (PFS). By finding a cure for POIS could this be a possible cure for PFS, and vice versa...

I had POIS for over 10 years before I tried finasteride.

I haven't noticed any change since I stopped taking it.

I saw this video this summer: http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/video/propecia-linked-sexual-side-effects-16767118

Some people have had permanent sexual problems that sound like POIS after stopping the drug.

Let me know if the video doesn't work if you live outside the USA
Turmeric and Rosemary 30-45 minutes before orgasm for anti-inflammatory and immune support has helped me a lot. Faster and easier than niacin approach.

WOW, you're right. They even call it a syndrome.

Haven't we talked about Propecia here somewhere. We should see what goes on with this drug to see if it touches anything we've been looking at.

WITHOUT RESEARCH THERE WILL BE NO CURE!
Sessions 5 to 9 days, mostly Flu-like, joints, digestion problems, light cognitive.
Niacin has changed my lif though, now 1 day MAX.
Somewhere in this interaction with Niacin is the answer!

It kind of does.  The main cause of Male Pattern Baldness is Prostoglandin D2: http://www.nature.com/news/clues-to-the-cause-of-male-pattern-baldness-1.10277

Prostoglandin D2 (PGD2) is also the main cause of the niacin flush  ;)

I didn't find that Propecia directly acted on PGD2, but the makers of the drug don't know exactly how it operates.  But since it's such an effective drug for what it does, Im guessing it interacts with PGD2
