Great to hear this endeavor even if it is very remote for the person living in Africa
Thanks, Solomon !
But, even if made far from Africa, the results of the study will be published and available to doctors all around the world :)
Yes, true for the doctors living in the capital but I am mainly referring to an individual barrier in related to lack of economic capacity

10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of weekly (52 weeks/year) testosterone self-injections.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business.

The lastest news we had is that the pilot study (testing all the settings and procedures with a few non-POISers test subjects) is about to begin in the coming weeks.  Just some supplies are missing, and some last minutes details with computers, sensors, equipments and else.   Stay tuned !

Is there a timeline available? How long will they be piloting, when does the main trials start, when are results expected etc?

Last News Demo had is that this week, they received the last computer they were waiting for... but no Operating System installed, unfortunately. So the researchers had to reach for a Windows license and install it.  I hope this will be one of the last delays before the pilot study will start.
I have no idea how long will the pilot study last.  Maybe Demo will ask in one of his future contacts with them.  But as you can  see, any timeline is subject to change, depending on the problems encountered.
We have to be patient.  It is not a blockbuster study on diabetes, asthma, or overweight - POIS is classified as a Rare Disorder..  So, not a huge team in the lab to support our researchers, who also have themselves other duties and responsibilities to take care of.  But we are getting there, slowly but surely. Dr.L and Dr.P are very determined to get this project running as soon as possible :)

I did research in university before and I share your sentiment. I hope they don't disappoint, but I won't get my hopes up.

One of the tests included in the lab should be an EEG because a friend from Egypt said his pois was consistently prevented (over a span of 6 months) by a combination of 200mg carbamazepine and 50mg amitriptyline daily. When he tried amitriptyline alone, he said he still got pois symptoms. Not enough data exist on carbamazepine (an anti-epileptic, mood stabilizer and neuropathy drug) for pois. Its potential to prevent problematic brain electrical signals is recommended to be investigated as a cause of pois.

The article I share below proposes a model of pathogenesis of CFS (or POIS a CFS which happens due to orgasm) in which the trigger kindles a seizure like activity in the brain leading to excitotoxicity and subsequently neuroinflammation

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3166239/

Where are the tests being held? Il put my name down.
We do not have a list of the tests, for now, but it will be extensive.
The recruitment is not started yet - stay tuned to see it announced.  I suppose it will be in early 2025.

I just read in a pois whatsapp group that the moderator of the forum stole the donation money for the study.  I hope this is a hoax?
Does anybody have news on the research team and when recruiting will start?

This is likely BS. We had the same guy over in the subreddit repeating this. He has a history of speaking garbage nonsense and is currently temporarily banned over at subreddit. I would take everything he says with a large grain of salt.

At the same time, the study keeps being postponed and postponed for ridiculous reasons.... An operating system not installed on a computer... Where on earth does one find a computer without OS?
To me, it smells badly...

In that case, I would recommend that you take a shower ;D

Aladin, I would prefer that you would not use expressions like "ridiculous reasons".  This study stumbled on zillions of obstacles in the last 6 years.  This OS problem has been fixed rapidly.  Since then, other technical problems, like getting all the computer registering data correctly and communication with each other., have also been taken care of.  We give you all the bits of information that we receive in order to keep you as much informed as possible, not to make you worry.
This set up that our researchers have put together is unique in the world, and will measure things that have never been measured before.   So, be patient, stay calm, and do not project your fears and anxiety on the situation.  On the opposite, things are going good, and they are in the process of recruiting healthy subjects in order to test all the lab installations and planned procedures.
Be aware that they are not full-time on this project, it is only a small part of what they are involved in, being high-level researchers.   POIS is a rare syndrome, we will never get the attention, the funding money, and the myriads of studies that diabetes, asthma, or obesity get.  Just be grateful that POIScenter has been working for over 10 years to get this high-quality, world-level study, a reality :)

It'll be hundreds of years before there's biomarkers for this illness. I don't even see it as an illness but a constellation of multiple causes or mechanisms. You need a larger sample size and more rigorous blood work. Most forms of cancer will be fully treatable before this illness is treatable by a clinician at your local doctor. Well out of everyone's lifetime.

Hi, TS,
It's been my own opinion for years now that there are multiple types of POIS, and that there will not be a one-size-fits-all solution for everybody.  This is made obvious in my POIS Types Chart and their possible control methods, where we can clearly see that helps one can worsen the other or have no effect at all.  POIS is a spectrum of ailments having the same triggers and similar symptoms and duration.
As for POIS research, it has to begin somewhere, and this upcoming POIS study is an excellent start.

I suggest that an eeg be conducted and recorded during the sexual act, the orgasm, and an repeatedly during pois days and then eegs should be compared between controls and poisers
