Do You Have Decreased Sexual Desire from POIS?
« on: February 01, 2024, 08:52:51 PM »
Hey everyone, I just discovered this forum. I've had POIS pretty much since I can remember, even in highschool and I'm now 30. With the passing years it seems that all the symptoms I get after ejaculation take longer and longer to go away. Whereas they used to take a few days in high school, in college they began taking a week, and now it's closer to a month.

The main symptoms I'm curious about are sexual. Specifically, after I orgasm I feel like a sexual non-entity. My attraction towards women at a deep level is gone, even if on a more "surface" level I can kind of want to have sex. This is a feeling that women can sense and feel as well. I'm just no longer a sexual being. This feeling is experienced during the act of flirting as well. If I've jerked off recently, my flirting is just terrible. There's almost no point to even trying to flirt with a woman if I've jerked off in the last few days.

Whereas if I have abstained for a month or more, I am sexual again, can flirt well, and am deeply interested in sex again.

Does anyone else experience this and/or have any ideas for remedies?

Welcome to the forum, Jackmerius !

Many feel very strained, and have personality changes, or emotional instability, or downright unable to handle human communication, when in a POIS attack.  So this is not a surprise that you feel a-relational or a-sexual when in POIS.  For me, I am very irritable when in POIS, and I avoid social situations, it is better for others, and for myself.  Hopefully, it rarely happens anymore, as I am getting older and have no more NEs, and less sex in general, and also because of the pre-pack I use.

Hi Jackmerius

I have a similar impression to yours. For my part, I feel a kind of 'internal heat' that returns 7 to 10 days after sexual activity, which seems to be linked to sexual desire and makes me feel pleasantly good in my body. I imagine that this sensation could make it possible to be more seductive in the situation you're talking about. This 'warmth' disappears and then sometimes reappears over the following weeks.

Before I knew about POIS, I thought my symptoms were due to this sexual 'energy' that was depleted and came back after 7/10 days. I had a belief system linked to this because it was the only explanation I could find for my illness.
In the past, I was also much more creative during this peak when I was making music, or more comfortable expressing it anyway.

Today, I don't know if these are 2 different phenomena or if it's all linked to POIS.

It may also be that you flirt with women largely for the sexuality, and that when you no longer have desire you find flirting less important.

Thomas - I also had/have an esoteric, spiritual belief system that tries to explain this lack of sexual energy, and I'm not totally sure how accurate or "real" it is. But I've been experimenting with Warrior's and Nanna1's supplement recommendations and they have helped a lot.

Supplements that have a very positive impact on sexuality and overall charisma:
- SAMe
- Vitamin B Complex
- I've also been on a decently strict diet of meat, organs, eggs, and fruit (following Paul Saladino's diet)

So I feel like this mostly comes down to POIS symptoms, although there may be *some* truth to the whole sexual energy thing. Right now I'm thinking undermethylation (for me it's definitely undermethylation, for others it might be over methylation) or like some type of faulty mechanism with the immune system (AKA autoimmune issues) is the true main culprit, which is why SAMe and B complex helps so much.

The results have been good so far, although I haven't jerked off in prob like 3-4 weeks now. My urgency in finally searching this stuff up was that symptoms were lasting far longer than the typical 1-2 weeks and I would still experience them at times into a very long abstinence period. Now, as soon as I take the SAMe my nuts feel heavy again and I feel more sexual.

I'm happy with the results and am very optimistic for the future. I plan to do Nanna1's immune recovery stack, which includes IV injections of Vitamin C like 3 days in a row, among other things. I think POIS is something we can heal for good but time will tell.

Other supplements I'm taking right now that I find helpful (although some I've just started). All of these I found recommended by either Warrior or Nanna1:
- Fish Oil
- Vitamin D + K2
- Alpha GPC
- TMG
- Glycine
- Vitamin C gummies
- Calcium

Side note, I'm also doing a parasite cleanse where I'm taking Ivermectin right now and I plan on doing a full protocol with Fenbendazole, Ivermectin, and Doxycycline. I think this has potential for healing some autoimmune issues. I'm a full on conspiracy theorist and have gotten into parasite theories (they cause cancer, most people have some version of them, etc.) So the parasite cleanse, the regular POIS supplements I'm taking now, and the future POIS autoimmune recovery protocol by Nanna1 are my 3 weapons so far in the battle against POIS.

Great to hear some of methylation supplements are working well for you.

Make sure you are getting adequate B12, folate, and B6. These co-factors are required for SAM-e to work properly.

And, make sure you are supplementing nutrients for the glycine buffer system. This will prevent over-methylation, which is likely to happen at some point when supplementing methyl groups (SAM-e, methyl B12, methylfolate, B6, choline, TMG, etc.) You can learn more about that here, but to summarise, these are the most important nutrients you must satisfy for the buffer system to work properly:
--Glycine 3-9g
--Vitamin A
--Folate
--Riboflavin
--Adequate iron (I have to supplement as my iron levels are low. You may not need to. I take iron biglycinate.)

The purpose of the glycine buffer system is to buffer excess methyl groups that you've taken in, but which you don't currently need. When the buffer system does not work properly and you're taking in more methyl groups than you need / can handle, you will experience symptoms of over-methylation, which I believe also causes POIS symptoms. The buffer system also helps to retrieve methyl groups when you need them.

Thanks for info, you've been a great help - and thanks for linking that Reddit post as well, it's awesome how many people are putting their heads together to figure this stuff out.

I likely haven't been as focused on the buffer system as I should be so what you mentioned is helpful, I'll start including those supplements more thoroughly. I didn't realize the buffer system also helps with retrieving methyl groups which is def my main focus at the moment, but I also understand that it's used as like a safety bumper on a bowling alley in case I overcorrect with overmethylation.

Your work on this forum has been amazingly useful and it's helped me feel so much better already.

You're welcome G.

I will say as well. You may not necessarily need the buffer system nutrients. I think the whole methylation system is complicated. I'm still learning every week and am constantly experimenting to find what works best for me. But I mention those buffer nutrients just in case you ever hit a plateau in the tinkering of your methylation stack.
