notable progress
« on: June 25, 2023, 04:55:45 PM »
I have ADHD so I'm going to try and make this response readable, if you are black and white thinking please give me some grace. I'm 45, I've had POIS since really early 20's is my best guess but could be really late teens. It is important to note that exercise also impacts me if I do really heavy compound lifting like squats or deadlift. Anyway I have tried everything under the sun, I have gone through several relationships and I have not reached my full potential in life because of POIS. Of late I have made notable progress with the following interventions, like no symptoms that I can detect.

* low fat plant based diet (It's a vegan diet but I eat honey and wear leather, I'm not vegan (I am also gluten free). I eat lots of fresh whole foods and cooked vegan food with little to no added oil.
* using turmeric daily with added black pepper so it will absorb well into the body (I put it in food i.e., beans, noodles, curry and so on).
* I do cool showers and end with a cold shower for 2 minutes or more (Wim Hof).
* I take Quercetin prior to O, the morning after and the day after that (1,000 mg).
* I take Fenugreek on the same schedule as Quercetin (600mg).
* I take a vegan version of fish oil made from algae daily.
* I exercise 5-6 days a week, cardio, weights but I don't go nuts, great pump, breathing hard but not P90X intensity.
* I have been spacing my O for 3-4 days apart
* niacin the next morning on an empty stomach to make sure I get the flush (100mg)
* spirulina, added to green smoothie that I drink daily. I put in a banana with a big handful of greens and a heaping tablespoon of Spirulina

It is important to note I do not get POIS until day 2 if I O, I don't know what percentage get it right after, later, the next day or like me on the second day when I wake up. Plant based diets reduce inflammation and speed recovery, I think this is important because there is a Paleo craze lately or the extreme of carnivore. My inflammation I had in my body in general is gone when eating a clean plant based diet. The cold showers also reduce inflammation as well as turmeric, the vegan algae oil and Quercetin. I think POIS is some form of an autoimmune response, not a doctor but my opinion obviously. People use the word sure and I think maybe someday there will be but for now this is working and I have no symptoms that I can detect of late. I'm going to note some articles below, I'm not trying to convince anyone rather provide my thoughts and what has been working well for me. I hope this can help just one person feel better because I know the pain, the hurt and the what if's that come with POIS. God bless you all, throwing out love to everyone.
