'Dry orgasm' pill
« on: May 29, 2012, 08:12:48 AM »
Did someone tried some pills that could inhibit the contraction of vas deference and stop sperm from moving to the prostate? Silodosin, Tamoulosin or others?

I believe 2 of our members tried silodosin a while back. One had positive results, but the silodosin made them tired so I think they decided it wasn't worth it. It was ineffective for the other I think.

Here are a lot of results for a search of the NSF forum for silodosin:

Taking ginger tea, no wheat, fenugreek+green tea/garlic, saw palmetto, niacin, boswellia, huperzine, B complex and nutmeg. See my treatment summary post for more info: http://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=81.msg3513#msg3513

I tried Silodosin but the fact that the semen stayed inside the body made me feel so much worse compared to what I was before...

Silodosin AFTER ejaculation
« Reply #3 on: December 26, 2021, 07:57:41 AM »
My doc prescribed me silodosin. I wanted to time my sexual activity after a few days but yesterday I ejaculated inadvertently while masturbating in the heat of the moment. I immediately took silodosin. Today morning I don't have any pois related symptoms.

So, how did silodosin work if I took it AFTER  ejaculation? This is was the first time I ever took it.
POIS type 1.  Clusters 1, 3, 4, 7. Other symptoms -
1. Orthostatic Hypotension
2. Sunken eyes
3. PE,ED
4. Mild pain, irritation in groin
5. Redness, heating of ears
6. Pulsating, exploding, swelling and pressure in head & face, esp when bending down, chewing hard
7. Frequent urination and thirst

Interesting experience. Silodosin blocks alpha-1 adrenergic receptors (noradrenaline receptors), which have been discussed here, in particular by nanna, so this is not really a new topic.

It would be useful to link to or quote some of the discussion you refer to. I wasn't aware that nanna had discussed the specific pharmacology of silodosin? It's an interesting topic that deserves more discussion - simply saying "nanna's theory covers this, it's not a new topic" doesn't do the topic justice in my opinion.

I agree that it's a good theory. I trialled silodosin for a month myself.

Admin note: merged this with an older thread so we can keep the discussion of one chemical substance in one thread :-)
(I don't merge older threads because it would break links)

I took Silodosin once and it completely removed my symptoms. I developed fever from a HHV-6 reactivation a few days later though, I dont know if this is related in any way.

I was speaking of nanna's discussion of the role of alpha1 A receptors, not silodosin. Most of this can be found in the exchanges here : https://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=2502.0.
See notably this for a theory of a1a overexpression: https://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=2502.msg26874;topicseen#msg26874 // https://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=2502.msg26939;topicseen#msg26939
The success of alpha blockers similar to silodosin was mentioned here : https://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=2502.msg32719;topicseen#msg32719

Thanks Prospero, some excellent links there explaining your thought process.

I find the last comment from nanna interesting:

Quote
these results seem to confirm that epinephrine and norepinephrine are the chemical triggers for Post Orgasmic Illness Syndrome.

Which leads me to wonder, why aren't we talking about this more? An NRI (milnacipran) has led to the complete resolution of my POIS symptoms.

Quote
Norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor

A norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (NRI, NERI) or noradrenaline reuptake inhibitor or adrenergic reuptake inhibitor (ARI), is a type of drug that acts as a reuptake inhibitor for the neurotransmitters norepinephrine (noradrenaline) and epinephrine (adrenaline) by blocking the action of the norepinephrine transporter (NET). This in turn leads to increased extracellular concentrations of norepinephrine and epinephrine and therefore can increase adrenergic neurotransmission.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norepinephrine_reuptake_inhibitor

It's great having a forum where everyone can discuss their own theories and issues, but as a community we seem to struggle to focus on any given topic for more than a few days.

Very interesting. Forum member Animus attributes his POIS Cure to dry orgasm. With surgery.

Hopefully, silosodin can accomplish a similar effect without surgery!

10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

A POIS specialist I saw recommended me to try silodosin. Must be a relatively known potential remedy for POIS amongst specialists.

Your specialist had probably read this paper, the results were very encouraging:

Quote
Silodosin, a highly selective alpha1A-blocker, which actually causes anejaculation, was effective treatment in 57% of the patients.
