10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business

yes there may be such thing as a semen allergy, but the effect of that would be sinus problems, grogieness, no so on, that would be very simaler to food allergies,or if not the same.

we should have sections in this forum, that seperate us , with discription of symptoms, cause maybe we are confusing eachother just a little bit. what works for some doesent seem 2 work for all. why do they have to hire that hot girl to do that video..

Not as Dr. Waldinger explains it. There have been various among us here who dodn;t believe the alergy theory either, until they came to REALLY understand what Dr. Waldinger was saying.
There are two type of reaction related to POIS, type I, which has symptoms similar to those which you mention above. But complex reactions related to the type I reaction in an area where there are lymphatic tissues "down there", initiates a type IV reaction, which is responsible for themore extended flulike and cognative symptoms.

If you don't have the Waldinger papers, send me a Personal Message, and I'll let you know how to receive them.

There are a couple of different sections for just that here.

This section is for the Auto-Immune cases, theres one for hormonal based cases and another for various and sundry cases. Also there's a section where we can each detail our case history, which is very useful for other users. One can look to others with similar symptoms to see what has worked for them.

WITHOUT RESEARCH THERE WILL BE NO CURE!
Sessions 5 to 9 days, mostly Flu-like, joints, digestion problems, light cognitive.
Niacin has changed my lif though, now 1 day MAX.
Somewhere in this interaction with Niacin is the answer!

It really bothers me that a lot of these publications and videos on POIS take their symptoms directly from flu symptoms. From what I've experienced and read, fever, runny nose, itchy eyes (in an allergic way, not the sandy feeling) are NOT symptoms of POIS, but they keep saying they are. Flu-like =! Flu
Symptoms last 6-7 days. Onset of muscle weakness after 30 seconds. Symptoms include: brain fog, fatigue, depression, pale skin/dark circles under eyes,  digestive problems, difficulty taking a full breath, irritability. NONE of these are present out of POIS.

Hi Scary sheep and Everyone --

This video has been around for a few years. It appeared on the USA TV show, "The Doctors" -- a show that I've seen a few times. It's not a scientific/medical TV show of particular merit -- is more of a popular TV show on daytime television. i'm not even sure how popular it is at this time.

The "expert" urologist featured in this video had no particular knowledge of POIS -- no research, no publications, etc. He was clearly a Hollywood-style MD.

Don't let it upset you, Scary sheep. Not worth it!

Stef

I won't let it get to me, but I've been trying to find a good resource to share with friends, but even the Wikipedia page has it wrong.

Sex and Depression: In the Brain, if Not the Mind

In addition to serving our own informational interests, the resources listed above can be useful for you to show our credibility to the medical world - which often shows little understanding and is sometimes skeptical of our condition: POIS has scientific underpinnings and POIS is not "just another psychological problem" related to sex - to be treated by the psychiatric/psychotherapeutic community. All of this information can greatly help you to fight the immediate reaction of some doctors: so just tell them, "IT'S NOT 'ALL IN YOUR HEAD'! "

It can be very  helpful to you when dealing with medical professionals to point this out. Click to see

POIS' official listing, as recognized by the
National Institutes for Health (NIH), Office of Rare Diseases Research
:

And in Europe: Orphanet now lists POIS on their website. - Click here.

The Post Orgasmic Illness Syndrome (P.O.I.S.) Forum is listed in the organization database of the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) -- http://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php.  The link for this, through their home page, is --
http://rarediseases.org/rare-disease-information/organizations/byID/3136/viewDetail.

POIS also appears in credible medical sources such as the Journal of Sexual Medicine (Dr. Waldinger's study), British Medical Journal (Dr. Selwyn Dexter's study), and wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Postorgasmic_illness_syndrome

For over 5 years, our POIS forum has attracted over 200 POIS sufferers worldwide who have posted here, research on an additional 200 sufferers elsewhere on the internet, plus our pages have been read nearly 2,000,000 times. Not bad for a rare malady.

Show some of this to your doctor - with pride. Chances are, you know far more about POIS than s/he does. Don't be intimidated by fancy diplomas. It's almost impossible for any one doctor to know much about POIS before you walk into his/her office. Unfortunately, it's up to you to educate them. And if you happen to find yourself with a disagreeable "student"-doctor (you're the teacher), find another doctor. Quickly!

SEARCH THE NSF FORUM ARCHIVES WITH GOOGLE

We have an overwhelming amount of NSF data: more than 5 years' worth of posts (over  10,000 posts!) from 200+ Forum members, and an additional 200 POIS sufferers found elsewhere on the Internet by Member B_Jim.

In the Google search box, type
whatever-it-is-you're-interested-in-finding-out[space]POIS[space]site:http://thenakedscientists.com/

for example, I tried
nocturnal emission POIS site:http://thenakedscientists.com/

and 740 results came up for "nocturnal emission" within the Forum.

be careful with spaces (you can use them before the word "site") and no-spaces (everything after the word "site")

Google even provides you results with the Message# for each result. But Message #'s do change, so be patient and look for the approximate Message#.
