For those who have visited Dr. Irwin Goldstein, you may know about the diagnostic TFESI that Dr. Goldstein wants to use for those who have POIS with an abnormal lumbar spine.
I ask that you please refuse this treatment option for the following reasons:
A TFESI procedure for a POIS patient on the spine to specifically target the hypothesized disc abnormality would be unethical. Much more research would be needed to prove the safety and effectiveness of any procedure targeting the POIS patient's hypothesized disc abnormality or involvement in POIS. In my opinion, it would be much more propitious to avoid any procedure like the TFESI or lumbar back surgery. This should be discussed with their trusted health care professional of their choosing.I have already called San Diego Sexual Medicine to discontinue the TFESI and have emailed Dr. Goldstein to stop providing it. If Dr. Goldstein, Dr. Barry Komisaruk offer it, or any other medical provider offers it, please kindly reject it.
I am terribly sorry for mentioning TFESI on this forum, and I will make sure to take any appropriate action necessary.
I don't trust Dr. I. Goldstein. Please read his reviews diligently, especially healthgrades and vitals.com to review his way of practice. He has Yelp which has more positive reviews, but from my experience with him, he was dishonest and unprofessional and I would not recommend him to anyone.
If I had to choose another option for my treatment, it would be a doctor who believes you and is willing to help. I feel that it would be better to see a doctor from a trusted healthcare facility. Always be 100% honest, they are there to help with your healthcare needs. There is a POIS video from Rena Malik M.D. that discusses treatment options, that you can share with the doctor. Psychiatry is optional. I know some doctors like it when their patient sees psychiatry due to normal lab results. I did my best and honestly, it is patience and love that will get us through this. I don't recommend patients with POIS to get a TFESI. Here is a great video explaining that many doctors do not explain all of the risks of TFESI, even from websites explaining the risks. Please know all of the risks of epidural steroid injections!:
