Luteolin could help us
« on: April 28, 2012, 11:22:13 PM »
Hi Everyone:

I had been suffering from POIS since 20 years ago.  I tried dozens of different supplements (minerals, vitamins, herbs, Quercetin, Omega-3, Resveratrol, etc) without any mid term result.

First I would like to do a quick introduction of what I think:

As you know, approximately two years ago a new theory related with semen allergy emerged.  This theory seems very logic, because allergies and sensitivities could cause mental and physical problems.

In my opinion, POIS is not a disease.  Is more like a symptom caused by chemical imbalances in brain and bloodstream.  This imbalance could be triggered by the semen allergy.

I guess that the majority suffering from POIS, also have other allergies or food sensitivities.

My Conclusion:

Two years ago the University of Chicago found a compound that could fight against inflammation and help with chemical imbalances related with allergies. The compound is Luteolin. Also in every allergic reaction, there is a inflammation.  Maybe thats the reason that after the ejeculation, triggers a chemical reaction that cause immune system and brain inflammation.

Only few companies sell luteolin as a supplement.  I propose to many that read this post to try with this compound to see if it can help us.  Luteolin is extracted from celery and green peppers.  But to get the therapeutic dosage we need to eat  bags per day.

I am going to buy a product from this site http://lutimax.com/ but there are others brands.

Then we can share our experiences.  I dont think we will find a one time cure, but at least,  I hope we can find a daily remedy.

Regards,

Luis

I'm interested in trying this, but it's really expensive.  Why should I pay $60 to see if this works at all?
Turmeric and Rosemary 30-45 minutes before orgasm for anti-inflammatory and immune support has helped me a lot. Faster and easier than niacin approach.

Imendoza, I'll be looking forward to your results with luteolin. I've been taking various herbs to reduce inflammation from POIS for a while now.
Taking ginger tea, no wheat, fenugreek+green tea/garlic, saw palmetto, niacin, boswellia, huperzine, B complex and nutmeg. See my treatment summary post for more info: http://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=81.msg3513#msg3513

I came across luteolin when I was looking for natural mast cell stabilizers.   I saw I was taking luteolin through the use of artichoke extract, that contains luteolin ( I take artichoke quite often for my sluggish liver).  When I learned there was luteolin in it, I began to sometime use it in addition to quercetin, my favorite natural mast cell inhibitor.  There is some quercetin, and some rutin, along with the luteoline, in the Neuroprotek product you take, Nightingale.

I sure get benefit from quercetin, and from artichoke too.  I do not know if our mast cells ( and other parts of oour immune system) are triggered by a viral infection or by an unknown antigen ( like from the semen), or by both and by other cumulative factors, but I sure think there is an over activity of mast cells in POIS, and that too much pro-inflammatory cytokines are released in the body.  Preventing mast cells to release those inflammatory mediators sounds like a good strategy to me.

I've found luteolin to be useful. It has antiinflammatory properties.  100mg to 200mg at a time.  You can get it on Amazon.  Avoid a seller with the last name Hubbard.
