Hi Iwillbeatthis,

Are you also using Usnea to treat a breathing issue?

No I'm not but I've seen in multiple places is good for respiratory illness.

"Usnea has a specific affinity for the lungs. It assists in respiratory infections and illness acting as a herbal antibiotic."

Cross-posted from Testosterone thread.

Sleep study last night. As expected (this was my 2nd study), I showed severe sleep apnea

Improved POIS symptom relief (took regular dose of 6mg testosterone & Tylenol PM - - includes 50mg Benadryl - - right before study)

Slept better than in YEARS. Mood lifted. Chronic fatigue lifted as well.

Resisted mask wearing for years. Now ready to wear it!!
10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business

@Mike_sweden I believe you! Strangely, I was able to “unblock” whatever was blocking my airways during POIS at night on bed, by rubbing my top and middle knuckles gently and firmly, up and down or in circles on the top of my head. Maybe I activated a nerve? I only tried it once and I don’t know if it will work again.

P.s. I felt the unblock on the left side of my chest, in between my left pec and sternum.

Masks can definitely make me worse. I needed the vaccines to stop the use of wearing a mask in public places. But I also feel that the vaccines made me worse. It is tough. But yeah, wearing a mask on for too long can definitely bring in a “difficulty breathing” episode. I try to stay away from wearing a mask for too long because I am already sick and I think you guys should too, especially those who have issues with breathing. But regardless of wether you guys are vaccinated or not, I still think it is important too practice social distancing.

Sometimes, I am so focused on this entity called POIS, I sometimes do not realize that something as simple as wearing a mask less often can help with my breathing issues. Maybe this is my own personal problem, but I just wanted to share this with everyone.

Take care everyone!

after having moves from one city to another my constipated nose problem is completely gone, something to consider as a clue.

think it was dust and mold in old apartment.

investigate allergies, i had a checkup a week ago and they found mite and timothy allergy, that means also cross allergies against similar proteins found in tomatoes and nuts and so on

Three things that I think have helped with my breathing issue. Resting without technology for about 10-20 minutes a day, less intense exercise, and eating small meals frequently (eating well.) It’s not much much better, but it certainly reduced the amount of times of those “asthma-like” attacks. There more frequent in POIS.

Interesting! How do you react to tomatoes and nuts?

Leukotrines could play a big role here , i think..
As pois atac autonomic nervos sysem-nerwes , muscules ,
that alsou not helping with breathing isues.
And severe atacs (specualy in pois days)of bloating wich  put
intense presure on diapragme and esophagal spincher
(that with stiffed-not working properly muscules), can alsuo
imact breathing badly, my case is sometimes severe an i
lerned how to live with it to not choke myself literaly.

If somebody hawe (internal diafragmal-esophagal spazams)
atacs in pois, dont panic when it hapens-do not try to deep breth
on force, make sveral short small breaths to relife spasam.
Burp some how if you fill gass presure in yours stomach...
Dr-pois.

@ Hopeoneday My breathing gets worse from certain foods, so in my case and what HOD is saying, digestion is involved. For those who will be seeing a Pulmonologist for this, please share that your digestive system or what foods you eat could be triggering this shortness of breath or choking. I notice that for me it can come from restaurant foods such as from local mexican restaurants, so I need to be careful. I eat mainly plain whole foods with very few ingredients and I did find relief from this breathing issue; not 100% better but alot better. I have a list of foods and ingredients that I know are safe. I don't know the mechanism behind this. I am sharing this because my pulmonologist recommended a corticosteroid inhaler when she did not know or I know what was causing my SOB exactly, even when my scans of my lungs would always come back normal.

For the person who asked what happens if I eat tomatoes, I don't eat tomatoes because of my sensitive digestion. but do plan to reintroduce. With nuts, they can give me stomach pain, but I rely on them for my energy since they are so nutritious and are packed with calories. I try to mix as much as I can. The goal of course is to eat as much foods and different varities as possible with no issues or very little issues as possible.

Thanks Kit

At present I am on my own treatment.  Doctors are good but I am not responding to any treatment and my lungs have bronchiectasis which means enlargement of bronchi in most part of my lungs.  The cause is  I believe mast cell driven chronic inflammation due to mold, dust, pollen, other aero allergens, reactions to temperature, food etc.

Very thick mucus accumulates in lungs due to this and which further damages the lungs.  I have been advised for lung transplant..  But I cannot afford it and also don't have a pollution free environment in my place to stay to recover in case I do a lung transplant.

Also my weight is now only 36 kg for a height of 178 cm.  which is a major problem for any surgery.

I think I am the only one in  this entire forum to have Pois and a lung damage mostly caused by same factors which cause my pois.

If by some chance I can improve my weight I can think about any treatment..  But gaining weight is very difficult like many of our friends here in this forum.

Most likely I will answer late, but you are not the only one. I had a period of 5 years when, from arousal, I instantly got a macro in the lungs, but this did not make my breathing heavy. I started having difficulty breathing when I took an antidepressant, I believe that you, like me, have a vegetative problem. Most likely this is due to adrenaline / norepinephrine / adrenal glands.
