Have you had continued success with this, or have you hit a point of diminishing returns at all?

Still as effective since I started in early January. I'm definitely better with matcha power vs green tea bags. I haven't tried matcha tea bags though.

Great news, Gino :)

Now that it has been over 3 months, and the placebo effect period would have ended by now, I would like to add your successful method in the niacin (B3) section of my "POIS Types Chart and their possible treatments"( https://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=2338.msg19448#msg19448  ).  I would add details on your specific regimen, that is, the addition of organic Macha tea.

Would it be ok with you If I add you as a reference member in my chart?

I tried B3 and an L-Theanine supplement included in my prepack this time. Did nothing for me.

Hi Quantum. Definitely please do. I'm very happy with the results so far.

I'm thinking that I remove the reference to L-theanine in the title since most teas have this anyway. The main difference seems to be that matcha is the consumption of the whole leaf rather than being drained tea leaves.

Just in case you didn't see my reply in my thread.

I'm planning on replicating your stack.

Here's what I'm thinking of taking:
-500 mg Niacin (2-6 hrs before O): https://www.amazon.com/NOW-Niacin-500-100-Capsules/dp/B004LVW8TU
-Matcha Tea (Immediately to 30 mins before O): https://www.amazon.com/Ch%C3%A9rie-Sweet-Heart-Matcha-Powder/dp/B07P6454Z1/
-Vitamin C + Echinacea (Daily): https://www.amazon.com/Solaray-Echinacea-Vitamin-Capsules-Count/dp/B000I4DIU2/

Do these check out? Also, do you have a better Matcha recommendation? I'm having a hard time finding yours.

Hi The One.

Overall it looks like the products you listed are very similar to mine. Your timing method also seems similar (B3 taken 2-6 hours beforehand and matcha taken just beforehand)

If you prefer I can buy my exact local products and mail them to you (PM me).

- My notes of potential differences:
 1. My B3 are in hard tablet form, rather than soft capsule form. Not sure if this matters?
 2. My B3 ingredient is listed as "niacin, nicotinamide". I'm not sure if this is different to just Niacin?
   (link: https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/21113/nature-s-own-vitamin-b3-500mg---vitamin-b---60-tablets)

Further points:
- In the 2-6 hour period beforehand I only ate a light meal and did not drink alcohol. I'm yet to test if that matters.
- Matcha powder is very potent. I only took 1/3 teaspoon to a small cup. I drank all the powder that falls to the bottom of the cup.

Results I get:
- I am very clear minded even after O. This is a welcome but strange feeling for someone who suffers POIS.
- I can still sleep well with this level of tea (whereas a late night coffee leaves me awake and jittery)
- I do not experience any mind or body symptoms on that day/night or in the following days.

Hope this works well for you!

Hi Laotzu1980,

Let me know if you give this exact method a go - with the same process:
- i.e. same timing of same components (500mg B3 between 2-6 hours beforehand and less than a teaspoon of matcha powder in a cup of hot water around 30 mins beforehand).

Would be interested if it either works or categorically doesn't work.

Similar but as a post-pack and with black tea:
Lets EAT it! And i did. Empty stomach this morning.
In an hour ALL pois symptoms were gone!!! Like... really?

(....)

Try it and let me know about it!!!
Today i had 4 teabags. So i believe buying those real organic blablabla that dont come into bags are even better. After each one i was feeling better. i felt my blood pumping in the veins again. All feelings of fatigue, brain fog, fear, anxiety. All gone. I couldn believe it myself. it was this simple???

Cut the teabag put the tea under the tongue for a few seconds and then swallow with a glass of water.

Thanks Thanks Berlin1984. I know drinking caffeine products (coffee, tea, cola etc) can temporarily counteract that slowing-down feeling when POIS is initially kicking in for me. However consume enough day and night for 4+ days of POIS. Yet if I took the matcha powdered tea and the B3 nicotinamide as a pre-pack (2-hours prior to O), I have nearly zero POIS at all and can repeat this day after day, week after week. Hope someone else can benefit from this method.

I am going to test this soon in about a weeks time (next O).

I am using planet organic matcha powder (ACO certified organic) and Caruso's Nicotinamide (Vitamin B3) 500mg. I have also been gluten free for 16 days (might be worth mentioning).

Hi warrioronthetrot. Looking forward to hearing your feedback. Please follow the timing of the steps as described in my post. Particularly the Nicotinamide between 2-6 hours beforehand and matcha powder tea immediately beforehand (or up to 1-2 hours beforehand if a stronger dose).

Would you also mind describing your typical POIS symptoms, severity and duration (i.e. symptoms without any treatment)?

Cheers
Gino

I tested this along with other supplements with 100% success. You can read my post here (https://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=3905.msg41497#msg41497). I actually believe it was fenugreek & garlic although I can't be for certain as I have not tested them individually yet.

EDIT: I removed it as I want to respect the 3 week rule. The supplement stack that is working so far for me is: 1x Vitamin B3 (Nicotinamide 500mg 2-6 hrs before O), 1x raw chewed garlic clove (45 min before O), 1x heaped teaspoon planet organic ACO certified matcha green tea (30 mins before O), 1x fenugreek 1000mg (45 min before O), 1-4x OysterMax (zinc, slenium, copper, vitamin b12, iodine) throughout the day. I will create a post after two weeks :D

POIS symptoms are fatigue, anxiety, and brainfog. These get more severe the more I ejaculate in a short period of time. If I abstain for 2-3 weeks, the adverse affects are significantly less.

So do you think its more niacin or matcha that does a job for you?

Hi warrioronthetrot - Thanks for the update . That's great news so far. I would like to know if just the combination of B3 (Nicotinamide 500mg) and matcha powder also works for you (at a future time if you are open to trying that).

Hi cn7
- two years ago I tried a pre-pack of B3 (Nicotinamide 500mg) on its own which had ~80% success in preventing POIS symptoms. This effectiveness reduced to ~50% over time.
- one year ago I tried a pre-pack of B3 (Nicotinamide 500mg) with green tea (usual bag type) and it went back up to ~80% success but I still experienced some fatigue.
- this year I take a pre-pack of B3 (Nicotinamide 500mg, 30 min to 6 hours beforehand) with matcha tea (powder form with boiling water; taken just beforehand) which has almost 100% success in preventing my POIS symptoms. I have done this since Jan 2021 (more than 6 months).

Note: it might be a placebo effect but I believe eating a piece of salmon at least once per week boosted the effectiveness of the B3 with matcha pre-pack, presumably due to the Omega-3 fats which I usually run low on according to my yearly blood tests for EPA/DHA. According to https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements-fish-oil/art-20364810 EPA/DHA from salmon or supplement pills have anti-inflammatory properties.

Hope you also find success in this pre-pack method too.

I just saw this -

"Interestingly, the researchers also analyzed the L-theanine levels of nearly 150 samples of matcha marketed in Japan and overseas; they found that 50 of 76 samples of matcha sold in Japan had enough L-theanine to cause a stress-reducing effect, while only six of 67 samples sold overseas contained stress-reducing levels of L-theanine.

To spot high-quality matcha, the website Epicurious recommends looking for varieties that are bright green and fragrant, and taste "a little sweet, a little savory, and have a hint of bitterness."" [info source: https://www.everydayhealth.com/diet-nutrition/green-tea-vs-matcha-how-do-they-compare/]

I have been drinking matcha powder with excellent results, sold in Australia: https://www.t2tea.com/en/au/tea/matcha/100%25-certified-organic-matcha-tin-T110AI012.html

Found this video very informative: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8eml3DvncA

Note: My 'pre-pack' of B3 (non-flush type niacin) + matcha powder tea is still fully effective after 8 months of trials. Hope you find this works for you too!

Hello Gino,
Matcha also has very positive effect on me.
I read that overdosing of B3 has toxic effect on the organism. Are you aware of this fact?

Is there any reason why this would be just a prevention method and not include recovery? Besides OP saying so.

Less than half of one teaspoon of matcha powder mixed with hot water (not boiling) was always enough to be effective for me. I drink it with a B3 tablet (non-flush type) say 1 hour before sex.

Photo attached for reference.

The bread tag is so you can see the relative size of the teaspoon.

That's it. It totally prevents POIS for me as long as I take it at least an hour before O. I don't need anything after O.

Is it effective to take after O as well, if you forgot to take before?
