Found something interesting
« on: July 17, 2020, 04:52:20 PM »
In an article in an Italian science journal while reading things related to orgasm hoping to find new research ideas for POIS I found a particularly interesting piece that I will post here translated into English:

Quote
There are also several points of contact between male and female orgasms, for example in the way pleasure is perceived. While brain activation during genital stimulation (i.e. in arousal, arousal) involves different brain areas in men and women, brain activity during orgasm is the same in males and females.
Why do we lose control? Furthermore, the lateral orbitofrontal cortex, involved in self-evaluation and self-control, "turns off" during the climax of pleasure in both genders. Finally everyone is sleepy after sex, due to the peak of the hormone prolactin, 4 times higher after a sexual act than after masturbation.

It is the first time that I read of a consistency of biochemical response difference between sex and masturbation and some who have POIS say they notice minor symptoms with sex compared to masturbation, very interesting, I have to find something that can confirm this thing.

This is indeed very interesting! Please research this further!

Since prolactin increases after O, it is often implicated in causing POIS. But maybe we've got it all wrong and prolactin is not going up sufficiently.

By the way, this might be related to the difference between masturbation and sex: I believe that my sides are way less when I masturbate in a way that brings my heartrate up long before orgasm.

I have the suspicion that an orgasm can have bad effects when heartrate is low/normal because in that case the orgasm might create a shock in blood pressure.

Basically what I do is I stand, use both hands to make a o-shape, and then thrust into my hands without moving the hands. This requires way more energy than how I used to masturbate, but it has the effect that my heartrate goes up first.

Male, INTJ. POIS symptoms: red eyes, ear-pain, anxiety, speech problems, pale/ugly skin, stiff neck, double chin, tinnitus, light sensitivity. POIS even after stimulation without O.
