Fainting during urination (micturition syncope)

I have the problem that sometimes after having done number 2 in bathroom I get some sort of short of breathness

i have read that some people actually faints after urination

could this be something to investigate?

The exact cause of micturition syncope isn't fully understood. But it may be related to opening (vasodilation) of the blood vessels that occurs when getting up and standing at the toilet or that occurs at the rapid emptying of a full bladder. This is thought to result in a sudden drop in blood pressure.

Other factors that may play a role in micturition syncope include:

    Alcohol
    Hunger
    Fatigue
    Dehydration
    Medical conditions, such as a respiratory infection
    Use of alpha blockers to improve urination in men with prostate problems

Mike_sweden: Did you have POTS? Do you easy feel like you should faint when standing up after sitting down long time? Do you have low blood pressure? How low?

i did faint about 5 years ago after getting up from the sofa

however i don't know if i could say that i have a problem with low blood pressure then or now

Get a blood pressure unit, this one is recommended.
