Somewhat skinny POIS'er here. Male, 187 cm, 70 kg.

Before I started paying attention to my diet, I would always look/feel slightly chubby, even while exercising 4 times per week. I dropped gluten about 10 years ago, after which my face looked much less puffy, and it was easier to maintain a healthy weight. Then at some point 6-12 months ago I switched to an MCAS-friendly diet and my weight dropped super quickly from 80 kg to 70 kg. I was a bit worried at first, but my gut feels a lot better, and I look and feel healthy, so I don't worry about it anymore.

EDIT: To anyone experimenting with diets: Please do the research, talk to a professional if you can, and make sure you get all the nutrition you need!  :)

Same once I gained 10 kilogram and got to 160lbs a slight reduction perhaps in the length and intensity of some symptoms but nothing strong

As soon as I get a POIS episode my stomach becomes upset. Food stop tasting good and feels heavy in the stomach.

It seems like food absorption is atrocious for 10 days following an O]

Same here - food just sits in my stomach forever. The whole digestive process slows down a lot. I believe this causes most of my main symptoms. If I could figure out what makes this happen - I should be able to find some way to correct it or manage it better. I suspect at this point that it is due to a faulty hormonal response following O.

If POIS is caused by a radiculopathy (a pinched nerve root in the spine, probably the vagus nerve) like Dr. Komisaruk suggested, could putting on weight reduce the pressure on the nerve root somehow? Just a theory. Personally my experience is the same, in fact, now that I think of it, sudden weight loss and the subsequent quick weight gain afterwards happened when my first POIS symptoms appeared. Maybe those sudden changes in my weight trapped a nerve somehow. A

And back when I didn't have exercise intolerance yet, and had put on weight and quite a bit of muscle, I felt much better and my symptoms weren't too severe, just a fever.

This happens to me too, but in a less severe way. During POIS, my appetite is reduced, and my digestive system works differently, sometimes I tend towards diarrhea and sometimes towards constipation. I believe it's due to a problem in the vagus nerve, that controls digestion. If it's underactive, it could very well cause constipation and slow down digestion.
