Mind processing speed
« on: May 14, 2020, 04:30:46 AM »
One of POIS cognitive symptoms for me is that my mind processes thoughts slower-for example I read something or think of something and thought process isn't as fast and it feels as the mind isn't as "active" when it comes to thinking-it's in a passive sort of mode which it's the opposite of racing thoughts-when thinking of something it feels as the "thought isn't clear"-when thinking when there's 0 brainfog-track of thoughts can be kept and mind processes all fast-but in brainfog state thoughts are less clear and blurrier-even though I understand stuff-when it comes to longer trains of thoughts and more demanding cognitive tasks it's as if my mind is empty-e.g. I think through a cognitive task but my mind "doesn't fire the thought process" clearly enough for me to solve a cognitive task-it takes longer time, I might forget what I had already solved while I am solving the next step due to the sleepy kind of state my mind is in-as if the thoughts I need to store in memory for a while go out of short term memory just a short while after.

I also notice that when I am in POIS state I need to think longer than usual to recall facts or memories from something from past-and sometimes when someone might tell me about something of past I might have like blurry and overall memory of it but detail oriented memory of memories of past is blurrier and visualization is not as vivid in POIS too which might have to do with not being able to recall memories of past in smaller details in POIS state-on abstinence I can recall stuff better in details-for example I practice sometimes a memory training in which I try to remember specific details of stuff I saw in last few hours, last few days, last few weeks and so on  but didn't necessarily have to memorize due to it not being important-for example I think of what weather was like 8 hours ago or every single food I had in a meal an exact number of days ago-and often I am able to recall it but sometimes not as fast and well-what I notice though is that in POIS state it's harder to recall random details from past if I do this memory practice-memories are blurrier although with time and effort I can recall even stuff that at first is hard to recall but overall in POIS state mind feels as it has a void and memories are blurrier and I feel as there's a "glass between what I see".

Anyone else?

Yep this is definitely one of my symptoms. When in this state I'll often space out a bit while conversing.

I would suspect that almost everyone with POIS has the same exact symptoms you describe. I definitely do.
