New and suffering from possible POIS for about 2 years.
« on: May 08, 2019, 02:02:01 AM »
Hello everyone.

I am a 43 year old Male who in the last 2 years has developed something very strange and all of my research has led me here. I am not sure if this is POIS or something different entirely but it is putting massive strain on my wife and I's relationship and it truly causing me boughs of depression and anxiety.

Symptoms: Feeling of something being in my throat, and the constant need to cough / gag to remove it before and during orgasm. It literally feels like a lump of phlegm building in the right hand side of my throat and it increases as I get closer to orgasm to the point where I either gag or have an uncontrollable cough as I orgasm. I do suffer from minor premature ejaculation.

Myself: 43, Male, Smoker, Overweight (5'7" 250), Do not exercise due to physical limitations from previous accidents. Psoriasis covers 80% of my body.

I do not suffer from my thoughts being cloudy, the feeling of mental fatigue.

My main concern is this feeling of choking on something / lump of phlegm building in my throat during oral or sexual activity, but not when masturbating. Not sure what else to say ....

Maybe you have POIS? (Post-Orgasmic Illness Syndrome). It’s a rare condition in which affected men develop a cluster of flu-like symptoms after ejaculation that can include extreme fatigue; brain fog; weakness; feverishness or sweating; mood changes or irritability; social anxiety; memory or concentration problems; and/or a stuffy nose or itching eyes. Symptoms may occur within seconds, minutes or a few hours or even days after ejaculation. Most symptoms last for 2 to 7 days and resolve spontaneously. The underlying cause of POIS is poorly understood but some scientists believe it may be an autoimmune condition. Rarely, females also have been reported with POIS.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business

Psoriasis covers 80% of my body.

Psoriasis is Th1 mediated. Your IFN-gamma/IL-4 ratio is probably off. IFN-g, IL-12, IL-18 can be elevated and levels could depend on the severity of disease.

Local skin Tregs could also be disfunctional or show abnormal numbers leading to problems in regulatory function.

Hi Demo

If possible please add gut problems to the POIS explanation.  Many of us have severe gut problems immediately upon orgasm or from the next day, which is quite difficult to deal with.

Can you suggest “gut” wording and placement and send to me and Quantum via PM? Thanks!
