Hey guys.
So recently I've been contemplating the involvement of T-cells in the theorized auto-immune reaction that happens in POIS. Waldinger (2016) mentioned the involvement of circulating T-lymphocytes in the physical and cognitive symptoms in the brain.
[ref]One thing that caught my eye about T-cells activation is the this:
"In T-cells, activation of the T-cell receptor normally increases intracellular calcium, which acts via calmodulin to activate calcineurin"
[ref]If what's mentioned above is true, can an increase in Ca2+ intracellular activity be leading to neurotoxicity, i.e. neuronal death?
Is this theory valid or is it hyperbolic?
Thank you.
