New here
« on: March 23, 2019, 02:38:29 PM »
Hi, I'm new here, and new to the possible POIS world. I'm not even sure if I have it, but it sure seems like I do.

I'm early 30's. I don't have premature ejaculation, my libido is fine... and that's part of the problem. It doesn't matter if I go one day or 30 days without ejaculating, when I eventually do I'm wrecked. The brain fog and low energy are so intense that I can barely function. Some times I have to call in sick to work. It has affected everything... my ability to go out, to form new relationships, to have a sex life. It's torture.

My questions are...

Are there tests I can ask my doctor to run to determine if I have POIS?

Are there suspected root causes? I read the wiki, and I know auto-immune is one of them.

Are there any alternative treatments that sort of work? Could this be a vitamin or mineral deficiency? A hormone problem?

This is really ruining my life. It started in my late 20's and has just got more worse over time. This morning on my way to work, it was a dangerous drive because I was barely cognizant.

By the way your captcha questions for every post are so time consuming because I have to google the answers. Could you make something more common knowledge, like what is 2+2?

Hi Chiron and welcome to this forum.

Sounds like you have the same cognitive and psychological symptoms that I have, so yes it sounds like POIS.
Are there tests I can ask my doctor to run to determine if I have POIS?
POIS is not a recognized illness yet, so no. However, you can do an MRI to the prostates and urethra, post and pro Ejaculation. See if you can convince your doctor to do that.
Are there suspected root causes? I read the wiki, and I know auto-immune is one of them.
There are many suspected theories in this forum on the cause of POIS. Dr. Waldinger on his paper on POIS suspects that it is an autoimmune disease to a man's own semenal fluid. These are all speculations though, since non of these theories were proven.
I personally lean towards the auto-immune theory but that's only my opinion.

Anyways I think this forum has a lot of threads for you to read with different treatments that worked for some and different theories.

Good luck and hopefully you can find a remedy.

Hi, Chiron, welcome to POISCenter!

Take a look at our “POISer draft” to see if and how it fits you:

Are you sick after sex?
Do you have “POIS”?

POIS (Post-Orgasmic Illness Syndrome) is a rare condition in which affected men develop a cluster of flu-like symptoms after ejaculation that can include extreme fatigue; brain fog; weakness; feverishness or sweating; mood changes or irritability; memory or concentration problems; and/or a stuffy nose or itching eyes. Symptoms may occur within seconds, minutes or a few hours or even days after ejaculation. Most symptoms last for 2 to 7 days and resolve spontaneously. The underlying cause of POIS is poorly understood but some scientists believe it may be an autoimmune condition. Rarely, females also have been reported with POIS.

Hi Chrion, you will find help and information on this forum.

For your above question, see here what is working for other members ( methods that are at least 80% effective, for over 3 months.... so not placebo):

Hi Chiron,

I will send you the answers to registration questions in PM.

Registration answers had to be not so obvious, because we had hundreds of unwanted registrations a week by spammers, and had to make it more difficult to register. We were infested with spammers, bots and fake members.   To give you an idea, we had 200 to 400 new "members" a week, which was obviously impossible for a rare condition like POIS.  At one point, this little forum, which has currently approx 800 members, had over 14 000 members ! ... a huge pruning had to be done.   The fact that spam bots are attracted here is maybe due to some word search that is done by those bots... we do find words here like "orgasm", “masturbation”,  or "ejaculation"... that is maybe what attracts bots here.

Now, gone are the days when we come to the forum in the morning only to find 14 threads of foreign languages porn ads......

Sorry for the inconvenience, we understand that the registration process is a little harder, but it was really needed.

Welcome again to POISCenter!
