Yea I thought something was wrong when I was 16, but only observed it right after orgasm. It didn't come to my mind to observe it over the course of days. When symptoms were getting more intense it was more obvious but still tricky due to the slow delayed reaction.

10 years of major POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks associated with it.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business.

It took more than ten years. First I thought it was something else. First I thought about the way I breathe during sex. Then I thought it was because of a slow thyriod. When I stopped having sex for a while I made the connection. I posted my symptoms on Dutch medical sites, but no one knew what I had. After googling I came a the Naked Scientist topic of John and then I knew that I have POIS. That was in 2010. A few months later I had a consult at dr. Waldinger.
POIS since 2000. Very bad since 2008. I knew that I have POIS since June 2010. Desensitization since March 2011. I stopped with desens in July 2016. I have 50% less POIS. And only 1 day of POIS. Purified CBD works for me, but I am allergic for CBD.

Hi, amazing info, i'm really happy that you cured yourself, not in a million years i will not guess that the problem was orgasm/candida, i had this almost all my life, and finally google it out after good 25 years, i'm 40 now, effects of POIS  was skyrocketing in the last year and a half when i put cigarettes away and bought e - cig, i put away e-cig also one month a go, feeling little bit better, it's 9th day of my last sex with my girl and i feel almost amazing.  I really did not know that there is connection between how i feel and intercourse/orgasm, i just found it 2 days a go. I really never saw a pattern, because POIS got me one day or two days after orgasm. Tricky little shit. And before that i tried everything you can think of, changing the diet, stop smoking, became vegan, and still the effects were the same, (with e-cig even worse). I did really feel like shit, very very low self esteem,  i thought everyone dislike me for no reason, had nothing to say in some moments, i was shy in large groups, if i know this 25 years ago, my life will be different, i mean now i have good job, apartment, car, really nice suportive girlfriend but i can't make connection with other people, i mean i can talk maybe 1-2 minutes then i get tired and exhausted and want to leave conversation and i look uninterested,  anyway, no orgasm really helps, and after 9th day of no orgasm, (i never been more that 4-5 days without orgasm) still not feeling 100% me, but it is good progress till now.  Also i'm on my day 1 with probiotics. i hope my experience will also help someone. I bought gaba, it will arrive for 2 days, i read some comments that gaba  also help, will try niacin also.  I also recognize one pattern with sleep, if i sleep 6 hours i fill better than  sleeping 8 hours,  if i sleep 7-8 hours or taking a nap afternoon the effect of POIS are really strong until midnight. Really weird situations. Thank you for your video and for sharing your experince.?

Good question !  ;D

Some guys had Pois quickly after puberty or later.
In my case, symptoms gradually came after puberty.
And it was mainly cognitive symptoms. "flu-like" symptoms came later.

So my answer is about 1 year. Not sure.
Taurine = Anti-Pois

For me I realised after a week of it starting. I am 100% sure my POIS comes from a viral/bacterial/fungal infection as when it first started I had excruciating back pain leg pain, fevers and headaches. That all went after the first two months and now I mainly have bad brain fog, speech problems and autistic like symptoms.

My POIS symptoms seemed to come on gradually during my twenties. I noticed that I was very bad at dealing with social situations after O, making workdays and nights out hellish. My symptoms are mostly cognitive.

I spent years trying to work out what was wrong with me and trying all kinds of solutions. I was very happy to discover the Naked Scientists POIS thread in 2007, it is reassuring to find out that there are other people in the same situation.

I?m not sure I?d have ever noticed but I abstained for a while aftern converting to a new faith and I?m like, ?I?m cured of depression!? When I wouldn?t abstain I became sick again... so I clearly associated it with sickness but never made the formal leap until I saw it written out.  When I read the symptoms here I recognized all of them!
