CNS inflammation and NSAID

(1/1)

Nas:
Why don't NSAID relieve brain inflammation, in our case? Shouldn't that be an indicator that we don't have inflammation, rather something else?

itsmel:
Tylenol or paracetamol is reported to be the only possible Cox-3 which allows to cross brain barrier while others are only Cox-1 or 2.

cyberguy137:

Alleve should reduce inflammation, epsecially if taken beforehand to prevent the initial inflammatory response.

All NSAIDS can cross the blood brain barrier. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3900635/

I'm not sure if COX-3 is relevant

My personal physician said "alleve is best", so I'll go with his word, but really any NSAID in sufficient dose should do, assuming inflammation is the underlying cause.
