Cannabis induced POIS
« on: December 14, 2017, 02:41:28 PM »
Hello everyone,
Just signed up after discovering what i was experiencing the past few months was POIS, I think my case is probably unusual as i have no POIS symptoms when cannabis is not involved in some way, these are my symptoms:

within a few seconds of orgasm i experience:
- Pain inside my skull like my brain is being squeezed while being on fire
- Extreme pressure behind my eyes, feels like they'll pop out
- Sinuses feel inflamed
- Sneezing
- Red eyes, not the i got high kind, the i have pink eye kind, both of them
- Extreme weakness, cant get out of bed, dizzy as hell if i manage to stand up
- Anxiety
- Pain in neck/shoulders/back
- Cant think to save my life, can barely form sentences

These symptoms usually pass after around 3/4 hours but the residual feeling of breathlessness, irritability, weakness, cognitive impairment and poor emotional control lasts well into the next day, sometimes 2 days.

This all started around 6 months ago when i started taking a CBD extract to treat a reflux problem i've been having, turns out it made me feel incredible horny and made my orgasm much more powerful then usual, i started using it a lot, and at first i had no POIS symptoms, but as time went on they slowly started sneaking in, at first i thought it was part of the comedown from the very enjoyable high the extract provided but the more i used the more i realized the orgasm was the actual trigger.

since then i've discontinued my use of the extract and while my orgasms are less gratifying as they were while using at least i dont suffer from any noticeable POIS, the thing is, i have smoked weed since then and if i orgasm while high i experience then same symptoms, the intensity of which entirely depended on the time between cannabis orgasms, the longer i go between uses+orgasm the less intense the symptoms are.

what do you guys think?

PS: after reading around and seeing more then a few posts regarding Niacin as a sort of "cure" for some people i remembered that at the start of the year before ever discovering the CBD extract i did take Niacin for a few weeks as i found the flush enjoyable, haven't taken any in 8 months or so.

but after some googling i've found this study:
https://www.nature.com/articles/1301343
regarding the flushing effect of niacin on cannabis users vs nonusers, apparently there is some connection between the endocannabnoid system and niacin, not sure what to make of it yet.

I have been thinking about it. The POIS Chinese study could be right for some of us.

I think LDN could really work on people who have this POIS type. LDN (Low Dose Naltrexone) is used by people who want to quit opioid addiction and others (I am not sure about cannabis but there could be a relationship), as well as by Fybromialgia and CFS sufferers.  Hopefully we will be able to get some feedback in the coming weeks as one of our forum users will be starting a LDN protocol.

Hi Dredd,

What you describe as symptoms and pattern sure sounds like POIS to me.   Hopefully, in your case, you can abstain from CBD or related cannabis products, and your POIS disappears.   Rare are the members who can get clear of their POIS this way.  There are some members who get clear of their POIS by avoiding gluten, for example, and other food, like Going Less Crazy, but for most members, POIS is unavoidable at each ejaculation, and can only find a method that lower severity and duration of symptoms.

We do not know the pathophysiology of POIS yet, so hard to say where niacin, cannabis, and every other methods find their common denominator.   In fact, there seems to be more than one type of POIS, because what makes one better, can make another POIS sufferer worst.

It seems that  ALL  homeostastis systems in the body are linked  to  endocannabinoids !

Some guys here report improvements by smoking weeds.
I wonder if Pois can't be caused by  endocannabinoids deficit after ejaculation.

I had zero symptoms with purifief cbd oil. But I made a mistake. When the bottle was almost empty I took it all wirhout measuring. The next day I was very sick and since then I am allergic to cbd oil. But it was oil from the lab. Over the counter cbd oil didn’t help me at all. Also didn’t thc oil.
POIS since 2000. Very bad since 2008. I knew that I have POIS since June 2010. Desensitization since March 2011. I stopped with desens in July 2016. I have 50% less POIS. And only 1 day of POIS. Purified CBD works for me, but I am allergic for CBD.
