Mestinon Prescribed in the UK for POIS
« on: June 23, 2016, 12:34:20 PM »
Hi All,

I would just like to make you aware that I believe I am the first person ever to be prescribed Mestinon for POIS. It has taken a year to do this seeing many neurologists and receiving rejections along the way.

I have been prescribed Mestinon on basis that Mytelase works but is not available in the UK. Mestinon is available widely.

Doctors I have spoken to have been positive about writing an observational paper should it work. I will trial this medication over the next year and hope to provide an update in the coming months.

If it works I will be glad as it means I don't have to travel to France to get Mytelase!

I provide my Mytelase experience for reference http://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=2149.0

p.s. It's funny how this websites has picked up all the POIS center Mytelase treads?! https://treato.com/Mytelase,Acetylcholine/?a=s

My experience is this - It's not a long term solution for me. When in POiS and feeling bad, mestinon temporarily increases cognative function with better focus, memory, and social integration. However, after 1.5 to 2 hours the medication wears off and creates a withdrawal that actually feels worst than before even taking the medication. The withdrawal includes slow cognative function, irritability, and I even get the 'shakes'.  This is only my experience and hope yours is totally different.

It may be you need to take it hours before and build it up in your system to get the full effect. This is certainly the case with Mytelase. I need to start talking it at least ten hours before having sex. These drugs are poorly absorbed in the body so getting the right amount in your system at point of O requires some skill. If it does not work from my experience it practically back to a full on POIS cycle so I use progesterone to take afterwards if it all goes wrong.

NOTE: It's important to take a choline rich food/supplement in the hours before O. I take soya lecithin supplements. This makes a real difference when I use Mytelase.

It sounds like you experienced similar failures with AcH blockers to me, but I hope this helps you. Taking AcH blocker after O has never worked for me.
