I suggest you to crush it and make yourself the powder, and then take one spoon of it, and then drink water.

I read that fenugreek seeds are pretty tough to crush, but a coffee bean grinder should work to grind them.

Also I read that if you let them soak in water overnight they will be easier to crush or mash.
Taking ginger tea, no wheat, fenugreek+green tea/garlic, saw palmetto, niacin, boswellia, huperzine, B complex and nutmeg. See my treatment summary post for more info: http://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=81.msg3513#msg3513

Sameer, these seeds are just methi, so have your wife add extra methi to your food. :)

I use a small food blender to crush up the seeds. I also add dried methi leaves - I was attempting to recreate the Solgar fenugreek that I used to take which was part leaves and part seeds. It seems as effective as the Solgar capsules were, and at a fraction of the price.

Fenugreek and body odour

I tried to cook with powdered fenugreek seeds, but I get such body odour from if that I had to stop. Does anyone know if fenugreek supplements in tablet form give the same odour?

I haven't taken fenugreek in capsule form for a long time, I have a large stock of fenugreek seeds and leaves that I mix in a spice/coffee grinder. It does have the effect of making you smell like maple syrup though in large quantities  :)

Most of the fenugreek supplements call themselves "fenugreek extract" nowadays, boasting 4 times or 10 times the strength of normal fenugreek. It does seem to be a genuine thing, "fenugreek extract" is mentioned in some scientific papers:

https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1177/1934578X0800300923

It could be that the extract removes the smelly properties of normal fenugreek? So it may be worth a try. I'm a big fan of fenugreek, it is one of only 2 things that stop/alleviate my POIS. I've used it for many years.

OK, interesting. Unfortunately, none of the brands available to purchase from Norway list "extract" in the ingredients list, only fenugreek seeds. I'll give it a try anyway as it's not expensive. Purchased capsules from Now brand.

What's the other of the 2 things that have helped you, is it garlic?

Thanks. :)

Fenugreek is a 5 alpha reductase and DHT inhibitor so be careful with it, I only took the capsule once personally and never again as I am only still 20 and a lot of androgenic growing of the body and bones and muscles could be still occurring till 35 ansd given that DHT is a more potent androgen with higher binding to the androgen receptors and cannot be aromatized (turned into the estrogen) and has stronger androgenic and anabolic and anti-catabolical effects and stays bound to the androgen receptors for a lot longer because of those reasons I wanna maximize it out as much as possible

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Journey, but most of that went above my head. What is your concern with fenugreek supplements in layman's terms?

This is interesting. All the health information I've found online regarding fenugreek deems it as safe to consume. I have no scientific background whatsoever, but heres a website that lists a lot of relatively short term (12 week) studies on fenugreek, which indicate positive outcomes on mens sexual health. Will keep an eye out for this though. Garlic & fenugreek work excellent for me in terms of reducing POIS. I haven't actually tested garlic alone's potency, so that will be next.

Milnacipran is the other thing that works, I made a thread about it here:

I hope you have some success with the fenugreek capsules. That was how I originally started taking it - 3 or 4 capsules before O (500mg I think), and the results were amazing :)

My take on it is that fenugreek (or methi) is a very common ingredient in Indian food, and millions of people eat it every day. You would think that any potentially harmful effect would have been discovered by now.

But it depends on the dosage and also it is mixed with a bunch of other spices in Indian food like Turmeric and other herbs so there may be some complex interactions that no one has fully researched.

My own personal research has found that the following Indian foods along with GNC Performance and Vitality supplement pack and a Vega ready to drink protein drink (1.2g Omega 3s) will bring me 80% out of POIS in 48hrs:

Good to hear that Indian food has been helping you with your POIS. Many people on this forum seem to find that certain foods or diets aid their symptoms.

Yes, I can imagine that the quantity of fenugreek in Indian food would vary a lot. One recipe I saw required 50 grams of fenugreek seeds, which would be equivalent to 100 500mg capsules!

So maybe that explains an observation by a lady friend of mine who was an esthetician and would deal with waxing male privates at times.  She said Indians are 'big'.  ;D

Quick update on Fenugreek from me. I'm trying out capsules, and I do get the same type of body odour from them. But at least with capsules rather than powder, I can easily control the dosage.

Not sure if they're helping. May be helping my cognitive symptoms a bit, but it's very hard to tell as they vary naturally even with no supplements. I have not tried an orgasm as I'm trying to remain abstinent for an extended period due to life commitments.

Fenugreek seeds decrease the enzyme that converts Testosterone into Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) so you could have low DHT symptoms from it like less beard/body hair growth, less libido etc.
