Interesting article about the Vagus Nerve
« on: March 20, 2016, 02:39:44 PM »
I apologise in advance if it has already been posted somewhere else:

"...Research shows that a high vagal tone makes your body better at regulating blood glucose levels, reducing the likelihood of diabetes, stroke and cardiovascular disease. (4) Low vagal tone, however, has been associated with chronic inflammation. (1,5)..."

10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business

Another interesting recent May 2016 article / current research piece relating to the ENS Enteric Nervous System, the gut, the Vagus nerve itself and Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS)
http://www.thenational.ae/new-research-shows-that-theres-more-to-a-gut-instinct#page1

UK research project on Vagus Nerve stimulation (VNS) on the gut and potential impacts on eating behaviours and obesity also https://www.imperial.ac.uk/a-z-research/i2move

PS.When you add all this activity ongoing in this space to what is known already regarding Vagus Nerve stimulation in the area of Epilepsy, perhaps we will see the Rutgers project (and potential MRI/VNS pilot) come up with interesting outcomes regarding cognitive, mental, emotional, neurological and other aspects of the in-pois phase of study participants.

Regards,
Colm
