Claritin-d works much better than regular claritin
« on: December 01, 2015, 07:35:40 PM »
This past Thanksgiving I ate stuff that I shouldn't have and if I do this I normally experience POIS.  So I took a regular claritin that night and I did experience POIS after O.  I kept eating not too good the next day and was able to have multiple orgasms after I took a claritin-d instead of a regular claritin and did not experience pois.  Wonder why this is.  It might be the effects of both the pseudoephedrine which constricts blood vessels and the loratadine.  Maybe a 1 2 punch.

My POIS managed with Diet (@ diet that 100% manages my pois)Believe my POIS stems from inflammation in the gut. O = neuro POIS from inflammation from the gut

supps: microdose zyrtec if needed for food sens. ibuprofen for infl. as needed. Melatonin as needed. Big Pinch Black cumin  seeds once daily

Did anybody try this yet?? I think it may be better than niacin and olive leaf extract from my own experiences.

Clartin-D works a lot, but your body can get used to it after a bit so it's not an effective treatment for too long.

It's also very expensive, so I have to stick to benadryl/generic anti-histamines.  Those work almost just as well though for my allergy symptoms, but I often have to take 2-3 per day.

I was just talking about the claritin-d about once weekly so it shouldn't hurt too financially. I don't have the "main" allergy symptoms of a typical allergy but this saves me from the tortuous emotional symptoms.

I thought the body couldn't get used to this stuff?  Maybe the pseudoephedrine though.

Also if I O and have symptoms without preparing, if I wait 24 hours or so than O while on claritin-d my symptoms subside, than again I'm not sure about the timing after a bad O that you can do this.  It might be possible right after a bad O that you can do this.

Sorry, didn't see this post before. I have tried claritin-D, and it seemed to help initially, but I felt very bad the next day. And since the worst days for me are the several days after the O, it wasn't that beneficial for me. As far as costs, and if it does help someone, there are also the identical generic brands. Cost shouldn't be much of a problem anyway, if in fact it does help, because it would be well worth it then. Just read all the warning labels & be careful.

Perhaps we have different poises.  Do you have the "fire in the brain" thing right where you have the O in the back of the brain like I explained on the other my other post?

Actually yes, most of my cognitive symptoms seem to be concentrated near the back of my head, at least that's what it feels like. If I scratch or poke certain parts of my head near the back, it can feel tingly. For me, the word "fire" might be too harsh because while I do feel most of my symptoms near the back of my head, it's not like sharp pain or anything excruciating, but yes I think you're right about the gist.

Yeah it's not exactly like fire lol.  But more descriptive maybe if I had to guess, a type of inflammatory reaction followed by releases of adrenaline to "relieve" the reaction, but it takes a while for this reaction to go away.

I haven't done enough research in this area but I'd say the Claritin-D works for me maybe because it releases adrenaline in your bloodstream, thus when you have an O, the combo of adrenaline released from the pseudoephedrine and the antihistamine effect of claritin knocks the potential reaction out.  I can O freely following 8 hours after taking Claritin-D.  That's too bad it didn't help you much but obviously we can have different biological mechanisms of POIS.  Are you sure you took the 12 hour version and took it pre O until you feel it?  The 24 hour version might be a bit too crazy.  If it was back in the beginning days of POIS where we might have took it during POIS not before I could see why your symptoms would have been worse.  But just making sure.

Sometimes I feel like I'd be qualified for a medical degree after all of this POIS research...

In my case as well I only get some relief (50%) with antiinflammatories and antihistaminics, 1 gr paracetamol and 1 claritin after O, 1gr of paracetamol the day after, in histamine and the inflammation afterwards is the cause of our problems I think.  Have you ever tried different antihistaminics from loratadine?  I think in Europe claritin d is not sold so I'll have to try with another pseudoephedrine antihistaminic.

Sorry for my english and thank you for your efforts into getting a solution.

When i used xyrtec(an antihistamine), it was for at least a week before orgasm and always used one pill about hour before.
