EDIT: I wrote too fast. You guys are talking about the day under pants influencing the night.

berlin1984, I'm wearing large boxer shorts day AND night since I found out about them. Lose pyjamas would probably be more comfortable for the nights while helping the same, indeed. I understand you not wanting to switch ahah

Weighted blankets seem to be a good idea, thanks for the suggestion ! And I can't tell much about that health concern of yours, sorry :/

I wonder how anyone can wear briefs/slips or boxer shorts in the night :)
I only wear lose pyjamas.
EDIT: I wrote too fast. You guys are talking about the day under pants influencing the night.
Maybe I should try your tip, I'm always wearing boxer briefs.

Maybe the term "boxer shorts" is not clear, I may have written "very loose pyjama pants", it is maybe clearer.

At any rate, for the benefit of all members, it means to never wear tight underwear or tight pants or else for sleeping, to avoid any stimulating friction against tight garments when erections happen during the night.

Also when you are in an inflammatory state your body feels warmer and that might induce more uncontrollable dreams. Before going to bed, try to lower the body temperature and air temperature. Take some antiinflammatory aids like garlic or vitamin C (or both together).

Anyone know how to lower the libido safely?
« Reply #43 on: March 25, 2022, 07:21:14 AM »
If I don't masturbate I get NEs and sometimes I feel bad even after them. Is there a safe way to decrease one's libido and avoid unwanted arousal, erections and ejaculation? If I avoid release for days I get an itch somewhere inside (prostate?) and also in my urethra after peeing, it feels almost as if I'm about to cum after I pee. The only time I remember I could go without O and NE for months was when I was hypothyroid. I've tried Vitex but it made me have *more* NEs. :)

Maybe the hypothyroid lowered your body temperature and that might be a counterweight to the POIS inflammation and possible also leaking gut inflammation. Leaky gut might be the reason for hypothyroid from the beginning.

In addition to all the tips and suggestions in this thread, avoid anything that boost testosterone.  Lower testosterone manifests in lower libido, as well as raising estrogen level.  But not many food or supplements help with that. Hops appear to do that.  Valerian seems to help a bit too.   But the best of all is....aging... I am 57, and NE are less and less an issue.

Skullcap and anything that lowers the blood pressure makes it more difficult to maintain an erection.  So, on the opposite, avoid salty food, because salt raises blood pressure, so it facilitates erections.  If you eat ham, cheese, chips,or any other source of salt, you will have a stiffer and more prolonged morning wood the next morning.

I agree with your suggestions, the thing is I want to have male confidence and get ripped and lower my body fat/increase muslces (I'm skinny fat).

Member Dylanmurphy has shared his success…to stop NEs,

Quantum, I also found a successful method that stopped my NE’s:

;D Aging! ;D
10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business

You can find nanna1's solution for less NE ( magnesium threonate + beta-alanine) at https://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=2954.msg28274#msg28274 , along with other suggestions from other users, in this same thread, about how to stop or diminish NE.

First of all just want to say thanks to Demografx and Quantum for getting me back online.....long story short....I had lost my email! Have not posted something here since a couple of years. I did keep having a look at the forum every once in a while since then though. I don't normally intend to post something every day again but I feel guilty for not having posted something I realise might be too important for all to know. I probably should have posted this a long time ago. Not looking for excuses but I was too preoccupied in my private life!

And yes it's about NEs.
I had small surgery done on me which has completely stopped me getting NEs. NEs was regularly bugging me and even feeling like near dumbstruck when awakening. Obviously if I feel aroused I could still get caught out but never again did I get it straight after awakening.

A few years back in 2014 and 2015 I was obsessed with seeing doctors to try find solutions for my POIS and it was a specialist as internist and endocrinologist (Dr Frank Comhaire) who came up with the idea. He send me to a urologist (Dr Jan Kunnen) for a small surgical procedure which they named as percutaneous transluminal embolization varicocele. I have not had any regret since getting this done and has probably saved me a lot of trouble. Obviously I still have POIS but at least glad to have gotten rid of the NEs. As far as I can remember the weeks after the surgery I could feel inside myself that my body had to adapt to a change. A sensation that was probably stressing my body a bit unless it was more psychological as far as I can remember but slowly adapted to the change. At the time these doctors had never heard of POIS. I only met the urologist once for the operation itself. I only had a discussion about 3 or 4 times with the endocrinologist before he had proposed this.

I hereby send you a report that was made at the time. You will note that the report has been written in dutch so apologies.
I erased my name on the report but I left the addresses of the doctors with their names. I did not ask them permission though if I could do this but I guess if ever it's free advertisement for them! I'm not sure if they still at the same addresses though!

I hope this info will also help someone.

Hi less_fogged, and welcome back to the forum :)

About the procedure you had, here is some information I got from Aria ( IA chat in Opera browser):
"Percutaneous transluminal embolization of varicocele is a medical procedure used to treat varicocele, which is a dilation of the veins in the scrotum. Here is some information about this procedure:
Percutaneous transluminal embolization of varicocele is a minimally invasive procedure performed by an interventional radiologist. The main goal of this procedure is to occlude the dilated veins that drain the testicle.During the procedure, a catheter is inserted into a vein in the groin or neck to reach the dilated veins in the scrotum.Once the catheter is in place, embolization agents such as coils or sclerosing substances are used to block the dilated veins.Blocking the dilated veins helps redirect blood flow to healthy veins, improving blood circulation in the scrotum.Percutaneous transluminal embolization of varicocele is considered a less invasive alternative to traditional varicocele surgery.
Potential benefits of this procedure include faster recovery, less postoperative pain, and a reduced risk of complications compared to surgery. However, as with any medical procedure, there may be risks and complications associated with percutaneous transluminal embolization of varicocele. It is important to discuss these aspects with your doctor before deciding to undergo this procedure.
It is always recommended to consult a healthcare professional for more specific and tailored information to your medical situation."

Did the internist or the urologist tell you before the procedure that you had a varicocele or a dilated vein in the scrotum?
If not, I wonder what link there would be between this procedure and NEs

There was no talk about me having a varicocele or a dilated vein in the scrotum
I just remember telling him that NEs was a big part of my POIS problem and so he came up with the idea that with this procedure would simply stop me getting NEs.

On my end, it seems that having a solution to cope with POIS have totally stopped my NEs. I suppose that having the stress to deal with 1 week+ of symptoms was the catalyst of it.

Nutrient Limitation. It seems to be working so far though it has made me weak. last resort I would think.

Basically only eat carbs. Bread and sugar only.

Here is a list I came across:
Here are some tips to help avoid or reduce the frequency of nocturnal emissions (wet dreams):
  • Avoid sleeping on your stomach. Try sleeping on your side or back instead. Use pillows or an extra blanket to prevent rolling onto your stomach
  • Practice relaxation techniques like deep breathing, meditation, or yoga before bed. This can help you feel calmer and less likely to have erotic dreams that lead to emissions
  • Avoid watching sexually explicit content at night. Instead, listen to soothing music or take a warm shower before bed
  • Consume a balanced diet rich in fiber and avoid spicy, oily, and heavy foods before bed. Bottle gourd juice and sage tea are believed to have calming properties that may help
  • Exercise regularly, at least 45 minutes per day. An inactive lifestyle is linked to a higher incidence of nocturnal emissions
  • Manage stress, anxiety and depression, as these can worsen the problem. Stay positive and avoid overthinking
  • Consult a doctor if emissions are causing significant distress or interfering with daily life. They can rule out any underlying conditions and provide personalized advice
Many of those tips were already in this thread.
Some were not, like wearing very loose boxers to sleep ( no tight underwear), or, with prescription, a SSRI drug like fluoxetine or sertraline.

This method is not safe, if you really want to go ahead with, it should be under medical supervision only, to be sure you won't have any serious malnutrition issues.
Before going to this extreme solution, did you ask your doctor to prescribe you an SSRI like fluoxetine ? Some members have good results with it.
