That's why i believe the pois s core is inflammation
i m trying 400mg ibuprofen and 1l, or 2l of water in the same hour and it s working pretty good
Just a little care advised on the Ibuprofen as I think it can be hard on the stomach if taken too much or too often. Maybe Quantum can confirm this?
COLM
Hi Colm,
Yes, ibuprofen, like all NSAIDs, is hard on the stomach - they inhibit the COX-1 enzyme which is needed for the protective prostaglandines production in the stomach. It is always advised to take them with food. As for Ibuprofen dose, 200mg or 400mg, it depends on your personal tolerance. 400mg can be ok for some, but not for others. Personally, I have a very sensitive stomach, so I prefer taking only 200mg, and only when needed, and cannot take that for long before my stomach becomes upset. Others can take 400mg 2 or 3 times a day ( with food) and have no stomach problems. Even if the adult recommended dosage is 200mg to 400mg every 4 to 6 hours, that does not mean that everybody can sustain such a dosage, and not necessarily for a long period neither. NSAIDS also have cardiovascular side effects, so this has to be kept in mind as well, in particular for older people ( and, the so-called "cox-2" NSAIDs like celecoxib are a little less hard on the stomach, but have more cardiovascular side effects than older NSAIDs ). So, it is always a good idea to ask a health professional before starting a regular drug regimen, even if it is an OTC drug, to see what dosage is safe for you and for how long.
And you are right about the long term use - if you take NSAIDs regularly for a long period you raise the probability of stomach irritation. That is why, in the US, the FDA advises that over-the-counter NSAIDs be taken only for 10 days or so.
