I found out that when I empty as much of the sperm reserve in my body as I could - by ejaculating more than once in a session - I get much milder POIS symtoms than if I ejaculate only once.

If I have two orgasms seprarated by a day or two, I am 10 times worse, but I've never tried two in one session!

Sounds interesting. I know that I am better off if I make sure that the orgasm is full and clean, no back-up of any kind, and I make sure I force as much of it out as I can.

So two in on session could be similar to that.. as you say cleaning out all the "load".

WITHOUT RESEARCH THERE WILL BE NO CURE!
Sessions 5 to 9 days, mostly Flu-like, joints, digestion problems, light cognitive.
Niacin has changed my lif though, now 1 day MAX.
Somewhere in this interaction with Niacin is the answer!

  • All of us working together to defeat POIS!

I could be wrong, and I know 1-2 people claim the opposite, but I think that most people here (certainly applies to this writer) would be 15X worse (figuratively - when compared to "10X worse" when separated by a day or two) with a "two-in-one" session!

10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business

  • I find that my POIS symptoms are less severe when I have intercourse than when I masturbate.
  • Better for me to have longer sex play, higher arousal, approach orgasm and back off, approach again, etc.
  • Come in a big way if I can.
  • Have lots of skin-to-skin contact with my partner.
  • More intense sex play may help, for example kink-like stuff. It might sound strange, but I actually think some pain (as it comes in a pleasurable form) might help. Some dopamine-related stuff, maybe?
  • Get a good night's sleep. For me, it's a huge challenge. I'm a terrible sleeper. I've landed in urgent care after a week with absolutely no sleep. But POIS is definitely better after some good sleep.
  • Longer abstention, for example after two weeks the symptoms are less than after say, three days.
  • Masturbate, but don't come within a few hours from ejaculation. This is my big gun. It helps frequently.
  • Get aroused frequently, even when I don't feel like it.
  • Get intense exercise.
  • Fish oil might help -- not sure on that.
  • Less coffee, less alcohol.
  • Less sugar, less carbs. I'm convinced of this. Sugar whacks my brain out without POIS!

Hi Pony & welcome! I completely agree with everything you said. You are my new friend. But how do you have an orgasm without ejaculating?  That seems almost impossible for me. Also, are you 100% sure that you can have as many orgasms as you want, but as long as you don't ejaculate and lose semen you won't feel symptoms? I think that is very, very interesting and it's always something I wondered about. That goes along with what animus did, which was to stop all semen production. (I think he believed that the body trying to replenish lost semen was what was causing his symptoms.) And again, welcome to the discussion!

Have you tried Kegel exercises? I've been doing it for 3 years, and I can reach the point of orgasm, then completely stop ejaculating. I still get some intense pleasure but I don't completely ejaculate, thus I don't get full-POIS.

However, if I masturbate in the morning and use kegel... I get POIS instantly, with intense brainfog for the day, even though I didn't ejaculate.

  • Conquered POIS
I've gone well over 6 months a number of times, and over a year a couple more times.

I'm just not that sexual/horny of a person anymore.  I used to be, as a teenager.  I could beat off 2, even 3 times a day.  But, of course, I was POIS'ed out ALL the time too.  What a miserable existence that was.  A living hell.

Additionally, a number of years ago I got really good at becoming "Multi-Orgasmic" (from Alex Allman's info) with no ejac. That's frickin awesome because I would have very powerful O's, one after another up every minute, up to 5-10 total O's.  But then be sick if I ejac'ed at the end.

Now that I figured this POIS shtuff out at 36 and why I get sick, I just got pissed and quit it all.  Health is number 1 to me in life.  So, I quit all women, all masturbation, all porn, all sexual content anywhere, anytime, ANYTHING.  I don't have, read, watch, or even think about it, at all.  It is my enemy.  My arch-nemesis.  I turned it OFF.

In fact, at this point, I've grown to pretty much HATE anything sexual: arousal, erection, orgasm, etc. because it's a all a huge nuisance to me.  It distracts me, kills my energy, kills my life.  It's this damn desire that I can't satisfy so why feed it?  So, anything that wants to kill me...I kill it.  So, I killed it.  The desires go away.  It's all in the head.  I can go a month or two without even having so much as an erection now.  Yes, I have LOTS of hobbies and a very full life.  Well, not full of life, but my life is full.

BTW - I switched to a high-good fat (LOTS LOTS LOTS of coconut oil, butter, and animal fats...and NO NO NO hydrogenated, deep-fried, or vegetable oils of any kind) and VERY low carb (usually 20g/day or less) diet and got much healthier.  I got over all my seasonal allergies.  No meds, no shots, no nothing anymore, any time of year, and I'm fine.  And, my POIS is not nearly as bad as it was before the diet.  For what it's worth.  Carbs aren't healthy.  Watch "Fathead" on hulu.com to learn more.

Hey,

To reply to a couple of the comments here.

Prancer! Geeze, if that's all it takes to make new friends, I wish I'd have known that a long time ago. You're my new friend, too!

On the semen loss item, I can't say 100% sure, but close. My last long abstention was over 100 days. I had a lot of sexual activity during that time (like almost daily) with a good amount of non-ejaculatory orgasm in that sex play. Mind you that kind of orgasm isn't exactly the same as ejaculatory, but a remarkably lot of fun. And No, no POIS symptoms. In fact, I believe the sex play helps my creativity, sharpens focus, and makes me generally in a better mood. That's aside from just generally enjoying sex a lot.

The other thing to mention is that I'm shooting blanks -- vasectomy -- so sperm for me is not a significant factor.

I concur with Freedom on his comment about carbs and fat. Reducing carbs and improving the oils I use -- coconut, olive, walnut, avocado -- has changed my life. My weight is really steady, cholesterol down and who knows, maybe it helped my POIS.

Prancer, you asked

. It's pretty much how I enjoy sex (and sex is really important to me) and avoid POIS symptoms as much as possible. Of course, I ejaculate occasionally and suffer symptoms, but mostly I enjoy sex, and just don't ejaculate and avoid POIS symptoms.

First, Prancer, you need to separate the notions of orgasm and ejaculation in your head. They are not the same thing. They are not interchangeable terms. Neither is evil to us, they're just different experiences, that's all.

Separating the two helps you to reframe sexuality for yourself. Most people see sex as an event with a beginning and an end with orgasm with ejaculation being the end. If -- as for us POIS guys -- orgasm or ejaculation presents a problem, that thinking causes a serious problem for the entire event because it can't end.

So, you simply remove the obligatory end-piece and reframe sexuality as a continuous journey. No part of sex needs to be there at any given time. Orgasm or ejaculation or foreplay or kink or porn or erection or fantasy have to occur at any time and in any order. Just be sexual and enjoy it.

This lightening up about sex, has for me transformed my POIS. I still have symptoms from time to time, but way less obsessive about it. I just enjoy what comes and do what I want to do. If I wish to ejaculate, I just think ahead a little and do what I can to lessen a couple down days.

If you want to know practically how you can orgasm without ejaculating, I can write more about that. It's really not that hard and changes how you approach sex. Again, much much lighter -- less seriously, more just for fun.

Peace,
Pony

Hi Pony,

Thank you for that good response! Haha, yeah I get a bit overexcited sometimes - I don't wanna gush over everything too much (no pun)! But I still completely agree with all of what you said.

It's funny (in a super good way) to me because before I discovered these forums in 2011 I was so frustrated that my symptoms could be unique (which was what I believed at the time because of their extreme weirdness). And once I discovered that there were many others with nearly the EXACT same symptoms I was ecstatic to say the least. And with every new member that comes and describes their symptoms I'm still pleasantly amazed. Plus, the fact that soon there will likely be some good research for this gross illness is just incredible.

It's like I progressed eons from the day before I found the forums to now. I think I'm still spazzing a bit from all that excitement.

So thanks for those great answers, and also I agree about the enjoying of/lightening up about sex. It's so true! Also, like you said, orgasm isn't really necessary for a good experience.

Peace,

Prancer
