I went to see a traditional Chinese doctor last week. I have seen a few over the years but never gone for a lengthy treatment. They all said a similar things in that they said my kidney function was low and needed to be boosted. Symptoms of low kidney functions is stiffness in muscles, particularly the lower back and low sperm count among other things. I do have all of these symptoms.

I just found this poll. I have decreased kidney function - and it seems to have gotten worse over the last years. I am going to see a specialist soon. G-man, did you start this poll because your kidney function is reduced as well?

I can confirm that years back I used to have a lot of kidney issues. I never understood why I had pain. The pain was only going away when staying calm & occasionally lying on my back for a few minutes at a time. Until mid-2010 the pain became unbearable and had kidney stones removed on both sides. The operation was hell. Gradually the pain started coming back after a year or so but then often started drinking loads of water to ease things as was getting afraid to end up with another operation. Since I am on my new diet (starch-free) I seem to no longer get pain in kidneys.

I will see if I can find my Glomerular Filtration Rate between my papers (if I ever had this done!!!)

My test results for GFR place me in the slightly reduced kidney function category, however I spoke with a doctor and he said my results are normal. I started this poll because I was wondering if cloudy urine has any relation to POIS. The best explanation I could come up with at the time was that the cloudy substance was coming from the lymph and going into the kidneys and then the urine. Not sure if that's the case or if the cloudy substance is something like puss being picked up from the urinary tract after the urine leaves the bladder

I have low kidney function and had been prescribed spironalactone, but my GP took me off it since my 2 major surgeries in 2015.
