Overcoming Depression
« on: February 10, 2014, 05:28:59 PM »
I'm in a very bad place at the moment. I'm insanely depressed and I can't focus at work, or even socialize outside. I haven't even ejaculated in one month, or more.

I'm thinking of taking Tryptophan before I sleep for relaxation, and then Rhodiola in the morning when I wake up.

I'm going to avoid going to a psychologist for now, before they give me stuff like Lithium.

It's just that some days I get HUGE highs - probably using all my Serotonin levels, and then huge lows immediately after.

What a ride.

Don't worry Suppertime. Getting exercise and sleep have helped me a little in the past. I've also experienced the high and then the low, but for me the low usually means a lot of brain fog/bad concentration. This can happen even while abstaining for a long time. It's most likely related to pois because I don't remember having that before pois. I consider it a good thing because once pois is cured then the depression and everything else that ties together with pois should go away too. Try doing something that you like (such as being near a close friend) when you feel depressed. Good luck! Keep us updated.

Suppertime, I'm someone who has been through years of crippling depression, and have come out on top of it somehow. I mean, I had the real deal. I think it's ridiculous to brag about how depressed I was, but I guess I'll just say I have been hospitalized for suicidality many times, and I have been to the NIH for consultation on my treatment-resistant depression. After electro-convulsive therapy, and going on lithium, I finally overcame it after 8 years of formal treatment. I am somewhat of an expert at depression, and I have found that many people get benefits from talking to me about my experiences (I lived at a "healing farm" for almost a year, and lived in a mental health group home for another year as well. I have a lot of stories, many of sadness, many of inspiration)

Hit me up sometime with a private message :)
Turmeric and Rosemary 30-45 minutes before orgasm for anti-inflammatory and immune support has helped me a lot. Faster and easier than niacin approach.

Thank you for the posts. It's nice to know I'm not alone here -- and that people share the same "fate".

But funny enough, I masturbated (without o)... and the next day I was feeling a lot better. It was like a huge burden off my shoulders. I'm also taking 5 HTP, not sure if that's helping but the depression stage has gone, for now.

You are definitely not alone out there Suppertime. Just echoing the encouragement from Suppertime and Prancer there. Even in the darkest moments, it is important for us to be hopeful that as they say "this too will pass". We are all potentially on a less bumpy road in the coming months and year.

I'm glad you're feeling better on 5-HTP, boosts that serotonin. Keep calm though, if you find your mind and your pulse suddenly racing after having a big laugh or other positive emotion, you may have to deal with symptoms of mania or panic attacks. I had to stop taking 5-HTP for that reason, I have the depressive type of Bipolar II, but I still can get manic. I also have to watch for psychosis. Just advice from someone who's been there too

Happy for you :)

Thanks Colm. It was definitely tough, it felt like I was in a darken room, with no windows, no circulation, no air to breath... and the room was my own body. Scary stuff.

Thanks for the tip. I stopped taking 5HTP for that reason alone and other long-term heart side effects, and taking the alternative L-Tryptophan and Rhodiola, which are supposedly safer. I hope you get by as well :)
