Hi , Relaxeverything,
I know this thread is about 3 years old, but I have not yet found this forum at that time. I find it very interesting that you have no cognitive symptoms and have very severe emotional symptoms, like me. If you ever pass by, it would be very interesting to compare notes....
I also practice meditation for years, and it helps me very much with emotional stability.
When I first found the forum, I saw that emotional symptoms were a bit overshadowed by cognitive symptoms, and they were even "fused" in the category of "cognitive symptoms". Dr Waldinger still have a tendency to include symptoms like anxiety, depression, or irritability in "cognitive" symptoms, which is not appropriate, from my point of view. That is why I have proposed a regrouping of POIS symptoms in clusters different form those of Dr Waldinger ( see these at
http://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=2027.msg15927#msg15927 ), which include a cluster of emotional symptoms, apart from cognitive one. I have even found a possible explanation for a common cause of these two cluster, form the production of too much kynurenine in the body, leading to different toxic metabolites, depending of your genetics, some of them creating cognitive symptoms ( like kynuretic acid), and some others causing emotional symptoms ( like quinolinic acid). You and I, for an unknown reason, are not affected by the first kind, but a lot by the second, emotional type.
I hope you still have control over your POIS symptoms :-)
