Pls check your blood sugar on next day of O !!!

Mine is always high and it took me 1 year ....to understand my doctors put me on insulin ....but i think  i am not daibetic !!!
god has saved me .....doctors think i am crazy !!!
My readings comes high in pois !!!

Still on very low dose of insulin !!!

Lets see !!!

POIS hasn't had history of messing with insulin, so if your docs say you should take it, it would be better that you follow their advice.

Diabetes, if not treated is very dangerous. It does irreversible damage to the nervous system

Niacin has changed my lif though, now 1 day MAX.
Somewhere in this interaction with Niacin is the answer!

Insulin is reacting with pois symptoms .... And i was really sick with insulin ........and pois .... So pray u dont have daibetes ........

After insulin my readings are normal but i feel terrible ......

When i take oral meds my brain starts to stop !!!!

So i left all meds !!!!! And insulin is very very low ... Lets see !!!

When i started insulin i was out of pois for 1 month with O ....great sex !!!

But again its all same may be worse with insulin so any advice ????

POIS is one thing, diabetes is another. Don't mix the two. Maintain your insulin treatment and we'll keep working on finding a POIS solution.

If the vitamin B injections help, all the better.

I think there is a link between insuline secretion and Pois. But I can't explain the cause.

More insuline = more inflammation = more Pois.

According to a study, 70grams of glucose = up to 25% of testsoterone loss...

Hi, my blood sugar level was also high after orgasm and it is not good for blood vessels. Also my blood pressure will rise  due the POIS. After week all back to normal.

Do you have some measures ?
I measured my glucose level during hot flash and the level was normal.
I measured blood pressure just before (14) and just after orgasm (12).
And my body temp is definitely normal during hot flash.


I have the feeling there is a competition between sex hormones like testosterone and insuline. What is the link, B3, zinc, other ?

i really dont know the link , but after leaving insulin after 15 days i am feeling alive again ........

one thing keep in mind i am 43 and since the age of 18 when i started pois .... i always have these symptoms of pois but never got high levels of glucose in blood .... it started at the age of 40 to be prcise ......i am not scarring anyone .... just want to tell , cause i think i am the oldest here with pois !!!!!!!!

Hi Sameer,

Thanks for your posts. I am fascinated by reading this and other threads. As shared elsewhere, I just last month discovered this forum having assumed all my adult life that I was the only person with this condition and symptoms.

I am 54 yrs of age, and have not realised there were so may potential reasons for POIS. I thought I had tried everything to cure or control the impact of orgasm on my physiology and psychology.

I am realising there may be hope in ending this cycle of misery that has blighted my life, relationally and career wise.

I am about to embark on trying Niacin and want to try and eliminate one thing at a time to improve.

For decades, abstinence has been the only thing that has truly helped.

The research that's been started by this group gives a glimmer of hope to all here with POIS.

I must try and see how can I measure my glucose levels post O.

Cheers Sameer,

You will hopefully have a long happy completely healthy life before you for decades, if a total solution to POIS is found. Looking after my own physical and mental health keeps me positive about the future also.  Have done my best not to let POIS define who I am.

I haven't checked my blood sugar level but i have been suspecting that my blood sugar isn't stable. Especially after releases. Should force myself make an appointment to healthcare center for blood sugar check someday. It is just such a mountain to climb when being in symptoms, and when not in symptoms it would be simple but usefulness may zero.

Hi, All --

It seems that several of you either develop high blood glucose (BG) after ejaculation and during the period of POIS -- or suspect that you do.

Daveman has mentioned on the forum that he develops elevated blood sugar while in POIS. He has his own blood sugar monitor that gives him exact readings. Once his POIS passes, his blood sugar normalizes.

If any of you suspect elevated blood sugar levels after ejaculating -- but especially while in POIS--  it might be worth it to buy (or borrow) a BG monitor to check your BG level.  (You'll need a few unused lancets!)

Checking the BG once, shortly before beginning the "O" process, then testing your blood sugar a few times/day just until the POIS is over, then once or twice after the POIS ends, might reveal important information about the POIS effect on sugar metabolism. Elevated BG might also might be part of the reason that you all feel so horrendous and brain-fogged during POIS.

When BG is elevated and remains elevated, it means that glucose does not get to it's targets -- the muscles, the heart (which is also a muscle) and the brain. Instead, it stays in the blood stream.

FYI, this  doesn't mean that you'll need insulin or other diabetes meds. But it could help shed some light on POIS.

I have no idea if insulin regulation is related to the Vagus nerve, but wouldn't be at all surprised  if the two are closely related!

Also, if you have your own BG machine, you won't need to drag yourself out to a doctor's office while in the midst of POIS. They're really not expensive, but sometimes you can borrow one from a friend or even from your doc's office  for a few days.
