Did someone of you used Roaccutane/Accutane against acne? It also know as Isotretinoin? I had that 10 years ago against acne. It is a very heavy medicine and doctors warned me. But I asked and asked for it, because it was the only medicine which could get the acne get away. It is bad for the liver. It could be that my hormones were messed up by this medicine and caused POIS.

POIS since 2000. Very bad since 2008. I knew that I have POIS since June 2010. Desensitization since March 2011. I stopped with desens in July 2016. I have 50% less POIS. And only 1 day of POIS. Purified CBD works for me, but I am allergic for CBD.

Not me. Although I enjoy drinking alcohol and was drinking heavily around the time when POIS started to happen. So there could be some kind of link to liver damage and POIS.

I used accutane for a year or so in high school. i was also wondering if there might be some connection to POIS.
Experienced POIS since 2002.
My symptoms include: brain fog, depression, physical and mental fatigue, memory problems, social anxiety, concentration problems, myalgia, inflammation.

There are a few others on TNC forum who used it. In MY OPINION our immune system is messed up. And for some of us Accutane is the reason.

I used Roaccutane and, for some reason, I always think that my have some relations with POIS. But I used Roaccutane when I was 14-15 years old and my POIS started when I was 20.

I'm worried about where this thread is going.  What is the evidence to back up the claim that accutane interferes with the immune system?  Would hope to have seen a discussion about that here.  Just because a lot of people with POIS took accutane (a very common drug to be taking during the years of puberty when you first get semen in your body) doesn't necessarily mean it caused or contributed to it.  If you have evidence for otherwise, then that would be worth posting. Again, I'm worried that the speculation here isn't adding to anything and at worst sending people down the wrong path.

Don't take this as me saying accutane is not the cause of your POIS, I don't know that.  But do you know?  Post evidence please!

I have not used accutane, but I had serious acne as a kid.

Turmeric and Rosemary 30-45 minutes before orgasm for anti-inflammatory and immune support has helped me a lot. Faster and easier than niacin approach.

Besides, it would seem that there would be a lot more people in the world with POIS if that were true.

WITHOUT RESEARCH THERE WILL BE NO CURE!
Sessions 5 to 9 days, mostly Flu-like, joints, digestion problems, light cognitive.
Niacin has changed my lif though, now 1 day MAX.
Somewhere in this interaction with Niacin is the answer!

Never used accutane, but did have acne at the time I developed POIS.  I also thought there was some correlation between me drinking coffee and POIS.  But it seems that mostly everyone who drinks coffee doesn't have pois.  Sooo I don't think really that there is a "causative" factor to this disease.

Or maybe something put our body in stress and than POIS came out.
My POIS managed with Diet (@ diet that 100% manages my pois)Believe my POIS stems from inflammation in the gut. O = neuro POIS from inflammation from the gut

supps: microdose zyrtec if needed for food sens. ibuprofen for infl. as needed. Melatonin as needed. Big Pinch Black cumin  seeds once daily

Yup, I did! I asked about it on the naked scientist forums, but the reactions were mixed. My POIS started about 6-12 months after a heavy course of accutane. My health was also never the same (I now suffer with CFS as well)

Ofcourse its difficult to prove any sort of cause and effect, but I also follow these mega threads about accutane users who suffered alot of health issues after this terrible drug.

http://www.acne.org/messageboard/index.php/topic/295030-repairing-the-long-term-damage-from-accutane/

http://www.musclechatroom.com/forum/showthread.php?20097-Official-Accutane-Thread

There are many pseudo links and testimonials between accutane and it somehow messing with the immune system.

Many people have taken the drug without any adverse side effects, but a portion have suffered long term side effects. Remember, we all have genetic variations, and poison for one person is medicine for another.

Accutane might not be the cause, but could rather be a contributing factor or a triggering mechanism

For me, POIS and CFS are terrible diseases, battling them and living with them are extremely difficult, but the hardest part is that you don't know the cause, and cant see what your fighting. I would give anything to atleast know what was making me ill. CFS and POIS are phantoms.

I took it for a month. It worsened my acne and made me feel awful so I stopped it.
I had POIS before I took it, while taking it and POIS after it. No difference so far as I could tell.

I also took Roaccutan for acne when I was about 14-16 years old. It seems to be a pure poison.

Reported side effect of Roaccutan:
Kills cells
Dry skin
Severe birth defects
Muscle and joint pain
Headaches
Liver damage
Depression
Elevated blood sugar

Much the same as for POIS! My girlfriend also took it. Her vision got so bad right after so she had to get glasses, never improved since.

I personally haven't used any acne stuff all medicines I recall are-antibiotic at ag 7 for stopping near-pneumonia, anti-epileptics since I was a kid till 15 when I took light SSRI for 1 year to transition to a medicine-free state once EEG showed lack of epileptic activity (I had sleeptime cramp seizures shortly after falling asleep as a toddler as confirmed by eeg) that's all medicines I recall ever taken.

I took Roaccutane in my early twenties, around 20 years ago. Truly evil stuff. I have no idea whether that's when my POIS started, as it's so long ago, but I'm not ruling it out. I certainly did get some severe skin symptoms. Pretty severe inflammation and flaking/shedding skin in the face especially. My dermatologist at the time also gave me a Tetracycline, a heavy antibiotic I believe.
