the Doctors TV show talked about POIS, briefly

Watch the trailer. Episode just aired a few minutes ago. Think it was called "Is it the Flu or is it Something Else?"

I just emailed the producers of the show. It seemed like they wanted to mention it but that they didnt have a lot of info about it (POIS).

We'll have to see if they respond.

Hello Defsync and Everyone,

Here's a link to the entire clip of that show on "The Doctors."   It came my way via a Google alert -- http://on.aol.com/video/post-orgasmic-illness-syndrome-explained-517640680?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+5min%2Ftr01-com+(5min%2Ftr01-com).

(There's a 20-second advertisement at the beginning.)

I did try to learn about Dr. David J. Josephson's background but found nothing related to experience with POIS patients or with his having done POIS research. However, he is a real urologist, went to a very good medical school (Albert Einstein College of Medicine) and is affiliated with a highly reputable hospital in Los Angeles, California (Cedars Sinai Medical Center).

The very good news is that he publicly states that POIS is a "true phenomenon."

His theory is that POIS is an autoimmune response to semen. He unfortunately interchanges the words "allergy" and "autoimmunity," which are two entirely different situations. He also referred to semen desensitization as if it is an accepted treatment for POIS -- which it is not -- especially if POIS is an autoimmune disorder!  But at least he's out there, spoke completely respectfully and seriously about this miserable disorder that is rarely mentioned publicly by physicians.

Without question -- his information was obtained for the most part from poiscenter.com.  Not a doubt in my mind. :-)

Be proud of yourselves!  POIS is accepted within the medical community!

The bravery of you men, posting your messages here, and the incredible fortitude of your moderators, Demo and Daveman, have combined to lead you all out of the POIS closet.

Stef

Thanks, Defsync and Stef!
10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business

Finally! For some reason, people in my household trust this show perhaps too much. When I recently started telling them about my case just so I could explain all those days of being offline, e.g. Headaches, joint pains, lethargy, depression, bad temper, brain fog, aphasia/aggramatism, indecisiveness, etc. (all of which totally disappear when I abstain from sex for at least 3 days) it doesn't seem they believe that such a phenomenon exists. So I guess POIS being addressed by The Doctors can help in that way--making people like that less skeptical about POIS and more understanding about what we go through.

That is great news! Acceptance by a highy reputable hospital is so good for our credibility.

This also increases chances we will get very bright researchers for our research (I would say "new" disease is very interesting!).

Once again, for this research we have almost reached the 33,000, we only need a few thousand more by March 22nd,

so please all donate and get this serious research started!! The momentum to beat the beast is NOW!
