POIS Symptoms by Age
« on: November 14, 2012, 04:30:17 PM »
My POIS has been with me ever since I was 12. Interestingly, I experienced very mild symptoms upon sexual arousal about 8 months prior to my first orgasm. At that point in my life symptoms were so mild I did not always attribute them to illness or medical dysfunction. After my first orgasm things got increasingly worse with each successive one becoming much more severe around the age of 16. Symptoms were still increasingly worse from month to month and year to year but, there was a clear difference between those experienced when I  was 13 as compared to the ones when I was 17. Into my late teens and early twenties POIS symptoms intensified again (ages 19-21). Things have gotten slightly worse with the passage of 5 years but, no hugely significant changes have occurred of recent, I am 26 now.

I am curious to see what kind of onset others experienced and at what ages if any, POIS had worsened for you and what you attribute it to? Feel free to share as much or little as you please.

Pretty much exactly my life story.  I'm also 26
Turmeric and Rosemary 30-45 minutes before orgasm for anti-inflammatory and immune support has helped me a lot. Faster and easier than niacin approach.

I can't answer the poll, because I'm not sure when it all started!

I only connected "POIS" (clueless what it was!!) symptoms-to-sex about 30 years ago.

When it _really_ started? I just don't know.
10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

16. I got food poisoning, became quite ill, couldn't go to school for a few months due to chronic gastric problems and things were never quite the same after that. I may have had the potential to develop POIS before then but it didn't happen or it wasn't obvious. The origin is a bit of a mystery.

noticed it fully in college but think  it started in senior year high school.
if kurtosis is right then maybe all that drinking freshmen year was what trigger it all the way for me. ( didnt start drinking until college.)

My POIS began when I first learned how to ejaculate at age 17, but I suspect I would have been getting symptoms at age 11 or 12 if I was ejaculating then since that's when I first started getting full erections and nocturnal emissions. I don't think I got any symptoms from nocturnal emissions during this time probably since I only had them about once a month and this wasn't enough to cause noticeable POIS.

Then again sometimes I think if I had started masturbating earlier then my body would have had more time to adapt to POIS before I matured into an adult, which might have made my POIS less severe than it is now. My brother said he started masturbating at age 10 or 11 and he's never had any POIS symptoms.

I've never done any drugs or alcohol until I was 21 after my POIS was already full blown. I suspect now that if I had drank more alcohol in my youth then my joints wouldn't be as bad as they are now since there were a couple studies done that showed evidence that drinking alcohol reduced your chances of developing rheumatoid arthritis.

Demo, you don't have to be specific ;),
That is why I made the age ranges pretty wide yet, I included a new category for those of us who are unsure as to any specific event or group of events perpetuating the onset of "POIS"

Nightingale I'm blown away, you writhe around w/ this crap for years thinking your unique in your experience only to find someone who has experienced things in a very similar fashion.

As for drinking and illness, they both are triggers which exacerbate my symptoms. I try to stay away from alcohol except for a beer at social events, because I feel so crappy from its effects.

As to what started my POIS, I believe mine is linked to my sexual maturity, being that my first symptoms were coinciding w/ pubescent growth and maturity. Truly the first intensification of symptoms at age 12 had to do with sexual stimulus (porn) on TV, which was fun but very confusing as kid who did not even masturbate yet and had a weird aura of negative skin and cognitive from being slightly aroused. From there on out I realized there was something wrong sexually, but as a confused 12 year old I thought I had a STD naturally.

I had my first orgasm when I was 10 - it was dry and no POIS. When I was 12 I had my first ejaculation with only a small amount of semen. Until I was 14 I could have orgasms that did not really give me POIS, but did cause some fatigue. At age 14.5 I started the full symptoms of POIS after I received an accidental electric shock. I do not believe that the shock directly caused my pois though.

Mine has been "fairly recently", I guess about 10 years ago, just turning 50ish.

Like most, I went maybe 3 or 4 or that not knowing that it was related to sex.

I think mine started as a direct result of a vasectomy reversal, about 4  yrs after the reversal.

WITHOUT RESEARCH THERE WILL BE NO CURE!
Sessions 5 to 9 days, mostly Flu-like, joints, digestion problems, light cognitive.
Niacin has changed my lif though, now 1 day MAX.
Somewhere in this interaction with Niacin is the answer!

Re-read my post. I was as specific and truthful as possible.

Hello, Andy 451 and Everyone,

This is a good question you've raised here!

It's the type of information that will be helpful to researchers.

I started masturbating from an early age. I think at age 5 perhaps because I remember it was prior to elementary school. My first ejaculation was perhaps at around age 10 or 11. I saw a few entries trying to link this but I don't remember any cases of poisining before POIS. Perhaps there were. But I remember alcohol consumption in small doses during my teens--my late father forced me to consume a teacup of diluted wine on a daily basis thinking it would help ectomorph me gain weight. I'm not sure how long that 'programme' lasted. Maybe a month. Maybe more. I don't drink or smoke at all, by the way. No illegal drugs either.

Now for the severity of symptoms. I think they were the most severe during my twenties, judging by the mental symptoms that were pretty much life wreckers. I can't forget that. I'm still trying to erase their rippling effects or at least be ready to deal with their haunting ghosts today. I'm 33 now and feeling better about coping with, and recovering from, POIS. I'm not sure what lessened the severity of the symptoms AND sped up recovery times, but here are my guesses:

1) Discovering POIS! Knowing that I have (or may have; always the skeptic) this condition/syndrome helps me manage it more effectively and more directly than before when I had thought my myriad of symptoms were disconnected and unrelated.
2) The gym! I started a strength+stamina training programme in January 2012, and that clearly (to me) sped up my recovery times from 3+ days to 1+ days. And there were days when POIS symptoms were so mild that the next day I was able to have a great day at work and at home. However, I think maybe the training didn't help with the intensity of the symptoms; just the recovery duration.
3) My age? The most related to this thread, could it be that the body starts to cope better with POIS at this stage (when testosterone levels start declining, I presume), provided that POIS had been triggered at an early age? And could it be the opposite for those of us who 'triggered' POIS later in their lives, making it more difficult to manage the symptoms as you age?

One last thing. I'm not sure if it's useful in any way to the topic, but I'm noticeably younger looking physically than what my age lets on. My younger siblings and younger friends have started going bald, many with white hair and smile wrinkles. I sometimes thought that it was perhaps a genetic fluke/mutation rather than directly inherited genes that led to both my appearance and (my readiness for) POIS.

I remember noticing that, around the age of 17, when I would wake up in the mornings and would have sexual thoughts in the morning, I would have allergies--sneezing, itching eyes, etc, all day long. By 21, I felt tremendously fatigued and started experiencing social anxiety symptoms. Nowadays, early 30's, I have rashes, flulike symptoms, and joint and spine pains after ejaculating.

Oh, and I too began masturbating at a very early age--toddler for me. I thought I invented it.
