We might need two more categories there,
Mostly cognitive, some flu-like
Mostly flu-like, some cognitive.
WITHOUT RESEARCH THERE WILL BE NO CURE!
Sessions 5 to 9 days, mostly Flu-like, joints, digestion problems, light cognitive.
Niacin has changed my lif though, now 1 day MAX.
Somewhere in this interaction with Niacin is the answer!

I think I get at least 90% of the symptoms that have been mentioned at the naked scientist POIS forum so far. So definitely both.
Taking ginger tea, no wheat, fenugreek+green tea/garlic, saw palmetto, niacin, boswellia, huperzine, B complex and nutmeg. See my treatment summary post for more info: http://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=81.msg3513#msg3513

I remember myself 15 years ago [I am now 32] with more Flu like symptoms [strange feeling in my throat, totally exhausted, strange weakness, tired and an internal heat in my whole body]
However, i must say that with time symptoms has been changing, now there are strong head aches at both side of the head/migranes, painful neck muscles, anxiety, cognitive issues, memory issues, brain fog, concentration problems, heartbeats, sometimes I wake up with no breath....
bad moods, anger and many others.

We are humans, we are different from one to each other and there are millions of processes that are happening in our body in every second, so for sure in the long term symptoms are changing - what I am now - is not what I was 10 years ago.
what I am trying to say is that there is a sense in that potentially one who have pois will suffer from different symptoms in different times of his life.

Simple poll to get this forum started -- are your POIS symptoms mainly cognitive, flu-like or a combination of both?

Mind if I add those two other options on your poll cornelius, or do you want to do it? Or do you prefer to leave it as it is? Up to you.

Strangely, during the first years my Pois was only cognitive. It was a severe symptoms of mental confusion. And later come the flu-like symptoms.

Thanks for the input -- since I've been taking the SSRI's, I haven't had to deal with the fatigue, and didn't even think to include it on the poll. God, that was awful.

I don't want to edit the poll - Waldinger divides sufferers between the same two catagories, so that's what I wanted to ask about. Changing it now would invalidate the previous results. Feel free to start your own though!

OK, that's fine.

That's why I started the other one with the 20% divisions :)

Mostly cognitive- severe depression and anxiety.  I do get acne and my nose stuffs up and my face gets puffy maybe from a lot of cortisol. I also get intense warmth.

Brain fog.  I can't sing anymore due to my voice getting deeper.  Short-term memory reduced.  Logical reasoning reduced.  More emotional.  Depression.  Not as coordinated or graceful.  Loss of muscle strength/tone.  And as I've gotten older (35+), headaches and nausea.

I'd say 100% cognitive.  Mostly migraine-like depression, feel imbalanced, just a terrible feeling.  Then establishes itself as brain fog that slowly lifts.  Lasts about a day now so that is good.
My POIS managed with Diet (@ diet that 100% manages my pois)Believe my POIS stems from inflammation in the gut. O = neuro POIS from inflammation from the gut

10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business

I experience a huge confluence of both groups of symptoms upon an orgasm. They are so intense, they happen simultaneously upon orgasm, yet i experience them to a lesser extent leading up to the crescendo of sexual activity. The symptoms become more and more intense as I approach orgasm, as well as some pleasurable feelings which are supposed to increase, but only do to a minimal extent. Most any pleasure I do derive from sexual experiences are is muddled because of all of the symptoms. I then need to be combine sex with more stimulus to get minimal pleasure despite hypersensitivities. Sex is a double edged sword we are all too familiar with.

In terms of actually symptoms:

I. Cognitive
1) Migraines
2) Confusion
3) Word finding issues and stuttering, stammering and spelling problems
4) Memory (short term in particular)
5) Orientation and balance
6) Physiological (deep depression and mood swings, )
7) Focus problems
8) Hypersensitivities to sound, light and cold
9) Phantom pains (sharp and dull ache)
10) Spots and floaters in eyes
11) Tinnitus

II. Flue-Like
1) Chills and hot sensations
2) Burning and tingling sensations deep in muscles
3) Burning and tingling on skin and brutal rashes (acute- on genitals as well as neck, forearms) (raised and red bleeds when bad) (dandruff/ hair loss/ itchy scalp)
4) Asthma and scratchy tight throat
5) Fluid retention and swelling of the face hands and joints (dark circles under eyes and pale face)
6) Deep muscle and joint aching
7) Exhaustion (Sleep for 12-14 hours the day of orgasm)
8) Tooth pain
9) Irritable Bowel and indigestion

If you experience a similar array of symptoms I'm very curious. I hope my information is helpful.
