POIS/Injuries- Pelivic Injuries
« on: August 08, 2014, 11:28:05 PM »
Currently I am having pelvic floor Physical therapy and wonder what % of POIS suffers have had acute pelvic pain related to an injury in the past that they are aware of.

POIS is certainly inflammatory, and  connected to our immune systems, but I wonder how much of it may be related to an acute injury.

I almost broke my tailbone at age 12 essentially dislocating it playing basketball (points inward to the left as the physical therapist tells me).

I broke my femur (stress fracture) on the hip joint playing soccer at age 12.

I injured my penis masturbating at the same age (embarrassing but important).

At age 22 I injured my lower back scuba diving which exacerbated symptoms.

Besides that I have multiple injuries on my knees and ankles from years of sports which may exacerbate more acute pain in the pelvic region, throwing things out of alignment and adding to inflammation or possibly causing it.

Thoughts/injuries...

37 yo M- POIS for 25yrs (since age 12). Chronic POIS- always there

Tried desensitization for 1.5yrs & was unsuccessful (POIS worse at 1/1000)

Exercising- (running/weights/situps) Low sugar diet. Supplements- limited success.Meds- Oxcarbazepine/Buspar (past-Depakote10yrs)

I had a groin pull 2-3 years ago, which continues to flair up on occasion.

I had the sensation that I broke my tailbone while skiing 3-5 years ago.

And like many here, I have lower cross syndrome from several years of sitting and not moving around very much.

The only thing I can think of here is that I ride a bike a lot and for some time rode one with a saddle that was not great. But millions of people ride bikes so I think its unlikely to be the cause of mechanical damage down there (eg. leading to leak of semen where it shouldn't go).
