Methods to prevent masturbation.
« on: May 13, 2021, 09:18:47 AM »
Hi all. I am thinking to try to abstain from all for a few month. A lot needed to be done in life, and since once 1.5 month of abstination a long time ago was the happiest and the most progressive epidode of my life i want to try it again. The problem is... after 10-14 days i can't think about anithing rather than sex. especcialy when i am alone, without any people around and without much phisical activity.the problem is... i need to do a lot of coding, sitting alone at home at my pc... can you guys give me some tips how to ease the completly overhelping desire for sex? i will try to do a lot more of physical exersises. and i will be eating zoloft, it was easing the desire, but i will get my hands on it only next month... so, any tips how to abstain from masturbation in this situation?
Thanks

Thanks for posting that, ramore.

Challenging question you raise!

10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business

For me: Cetirizine
One strategy for avoiding hornyness (to delay it to evening for activity with wife or even to delay it to weekend) one think that works for me is Cetirizine (brand name Zyrtec in US).
Side effect: Issues with erection...
Anti-Histamine => Problem getting an erection.

(In general for me, If i don't have an orgasm every x days, I suddenly get very foggy und unfocused. No way for me to work like that. So I have to have an orgasm. But as mentioned above, it's sometimes inconvenient so better to delay it. Sex causes me less problems than masturbation. And masturbation during day and sex in evening would cause a lot of problems. So then comes the cetirizine)

Note: Other bad side effects might be fertility / sperm issues:

Other things: Maybe google for "nofap" or "nofap methods". Maybe they have interesting methods. Like meditation or taking walks.

I haven't confirmed this yet, but there was a time when I took a few pills of Echinacea + beta glucan and later that day I tried watching hardcore porn, but I was simply not aroused psychologically. I tested Echinacea drops separately and it works moderately well on my POIS symptoms, but it didn't reduce the desire.
I also took Zoloft a long time ago and it worked for me as well. If you have trouble with prescription you may want to try out L-tryptophan as it generally does what SSRIs do. However you shouldn't take Zoloft and L-tryptophan together as it can lead to serotonin syndrome. You shouldn't take more than 3 tryptophan capsules a day as I had adverse side-effects with four. I always took only one capsule and kept a few hours in-between before I took the next. Usually the second one had a really noticeable effect on my depression and vision. I couldn't notice if it reduced my psychological desire, but it definitely made my dick less sensitive, so it had a positive effect on premature ejaculation (PE) as well, although I hadn't really had a problem with that. MACA capsules also reduce sensitivity and I think this may also help with nocturnal emission (NE).
Putting desire aside I had even better experiences with MACA capsules, saffron tea and alfalfa, so you may also give them a try.
The cause is probably the senescence of sexual organs and resultant inducible SASP, which also acts as a kind of non-diabetic metabolic syndrome.

Hi Progecitor,

For most people, maca will enhance libido, so not sure it is a good choice.  Maybe it is helpful for you, but I doubt it may be helpful for most people who want less libido and less sexual activity.

Tryptophan is probably better, and any SSRI has decreased libido and decreased overall sexual functions as side effects ( this can be talked about with a doctor since all SSRI anti-depressants are prescription-only drugs).

Hi ramore! What helps me to control the sexual thoughts that give me the urge to masturbate are lukewarm showers. You only need to shower once a day. I recommend going into the shower when the water is lukewarm or slightly warm, and then adjust the water back to lukewarm temperature or keep the water slightly warm if it will help you to relax. Then I would also recommend not doing anything too stressful or too frustrating for the next 20min - 1 hour. In the 20min - 1 hour, you can do an activity or hobby that you enjoy doing. For example, I listen to music or watch my favorite tv show. Then I would do the work or activity that usually gives me the urge to masturbate. See how you can incorporate lukewarm showers into a productive day when you need to control your sexual thoughts. It’s not easy controlling these thoughts especially when your alone.

I hope this helps!

Hi, does anyone know how to manage arousal while in bed? I can stop watching porn, ok. I can stop masturbating, ok. But managing arousal while going to bed and waking up? Then ejaculating because of PE or thinking about sex? It’s alot to ask for. Does anyone know any tips on how to manage this? I can decrease Zinc, but most of the foods I can tolerate contain Zinc, and it’s a fairly healthy diet too. It seriously gives me fear of exercising or doing anything healthy that may help me overall while boosting my libido. I need to experiment with cold showers, to see if it could help.

I got this result by losing progressively the habit of thinking about sex or women at all, whatever be the hour of the day (especially not before going to bed), and trying to not to feed the arousing thoughts that may arise while waking up (leave your bed if you feel that you're aroused). The less you think about it, the less it bothers you in the night.
