Executing a Masturbation Management Plan for POIS Relief

Hey everyone! I‘m a 20-year-old POIS individual with a 5-year POIS history.

After struggling with POIS for many years, I've gradually noticed patterns in how this condition manifests in my body. For me, the stimulating odor of garlic seems to be a way to alleviate brain fog, but the most effective method remains AVOIDING EJACULATION itself. Therefore, I will start managing and observing masturbation and nocturnal emissions more deliberately in order to reduce ejaculation frequency.

From January to April 2024, I will intentionally increase the intervals between masturbation sessions, aiming to reduce the frequency from twice a week to once a month.

This post does not provide a summary of symptoms or the effectiveness of medications, nor can it guarantee value for most people. But if you're interested in witnessing my experiment, feel free to leave a comment and let's make effort together. After the experiment concludes, I will create another post to summarize any valuable information.

My masturbation management schedule began on January 15th, after maintaining a frequency of once every four days. First, there was a three-day interval between January 15th and 19th, followed by a five-day interval from January 19th to 25th, and next will be an eight-day interval from January 25th to 3rd of February. Each time, I'm increasing the number of days by one compared to the previous interval. I anticipate extending this interval to 30 days in early April.

By controlling variables, I seem to have identified the biggest influencing factor on my POIS: work stress.

Before this week, I was on vacation, and during that time, the impact of POIS in a relatively relaxed environment was limited to slight brain fog, muscle soreness, and minor speech issues. However, I was still able to concentrate enough to complete my work and studies, so I thought POIS had improved for a while.

After the vacation ended and I have begun engaging in high-intensity work, the impact of POIS significantly intensified. Today, I took a day off and rested fully at home, so it's almost certain that the day's workload did not exaggerate the effects of POIS. On the contrary, the fatigue and stress from work during the previous period seemed to genuinely worsen the symptoms of POIS.

Unexpected wet dream. I had been without ejaculation for 5 days and was experiencing the expected low mood due to withdrawal reactions. Yestarday, one thing that made me so anxious seemed to trick my body into thinking it needed a supply of dopamine so that I had a wet dream. Very thin and odorless discharge. This is accompanied by daytime arrhythmias. I believe this situation can be solved by increasing daily exercise, so I am not prepared to modify my original plan.

Planned masturbation Without Severe Influence. On January 25th, an unplanned ejaculation caused me to suffer from brain fog, irregular heart rate, and depression for several days. However, I decided to try planned masturbation yesterday and surprisingly, I felt remarkably better afterward.

Apart from the psychological aspect of following a planned routine, I believe that getting a sufficient amount of sleep the day after ejaculation plays a crucial role. On the day of the unplanned ejaculation, I only managed to get 6-7 hours of sleep, following my regular workday schedule. However, I felt terrible and experienced severe POIS symptoms. Today, being a weekend, I took advantage of having more time and slept for 10 hours, which significantly alleviated my POIS symptoms. Additionally, I have also noticed the positive effects of moderate exercise.

So far, my planned routine has helped me overcome the fear of ejaculation and has made the impact of POIS more manageable. As a result, I have been able to identify some patterns to avoid POIS (of course for myself):

  • Avoid excessive psychological stress before bedtime.
  • Engage in 30 minutes of aerobic exercise daily.
  • Ensure at least 10 hours of sleep the day after ejaculation.

During this period, I have been staying up late. Next, I plan to investigate the effects of maintaining a regular sleep schedule by avoiding late nights before my next planned ejaculation. The next planned ejaculation is scheduled for February 16th, which is in 12 days.

I hope my experience and insights can be helpful to others who are also dealing with POIS. I would love to hear your thoughts and any suggestions you may have.

Planned Masturbation without significant influence. I experienced mild brain fog and dizziness, as well as obvious exhaustion. However, fortunately, my language skills were not impaired as they were before, and the decrease in willpower was somewhat alleviated, perhaps due to the 12-day period of abstaining. During the abstinence period, I slightly perceived a withdrawal reaction that made life seem duller, but the gradual recovery of mental abilities made me realize that it was worth it. According to the rules I set for myself, the next time I will ejaculate will be on March 5th.

After abstaining from masturbation for twelve days, I began to experience anxiety. Initially, this didn't concern me on February 16th. However, I have recently realized that I've developed a sort of obsessive-compulsive mindset. It seems that my body perceives the pleasure derived from masturbation after twelve days of abstinence as a "reward," yet this reward fails to meet my expectations in terms of satisfaction. Consequently, I find myself constantly yearning for more of these "rewards." As a result, I am consistently plagued by anxiety and indecisiveness, which severely impairs my ability to make sound judgments and maintain patience. I believe this issue is connected to the mechanisms of addiction, and it may also be influenced by the fact that I engaged in late-night masturbation on February 16th.

On April 3rd, I successfully managed to maintain a period of abstinence for 41 days by gradually increasing my abstinence time. This achievement was made possible by moving to a more positive and uplifting living environment and engaging in busy and fulfilling work centered around a goal. During this time, I experienced an unprecedented level of mental recovery. Although I occasionally faced mental blocks, they were not as debilitating as those experienced under POIS, and I was able to bounce back more easily.

It is worth noting that on April 3rd, I tried using 100mg of niacin, with 50mg taken half an hour before O and another 50mg taken an hour after. This helped me eliminate 80% of brain fog and 60% of fatigue.

Now I am back in my original living environment, and regardless of whether I can maintain the abstinence streak, I have gained valuable insights from this experience. I have developed confidence in my ability to achieve long periods of abstinence, accumulated several effective non-pharmaceutical methods for preventing and managing POIS, and discovered the positive effects of niacin.

In the future, I may start a new thread to document and discuss how I will use niacin, possibly substituting it with a less stimulating form called niacinamide. My ultimate goal is to find a suitable period of abstinence and a lifestyle that can perfectly balance the needs of O and the side effects of POIS, enabling me to become a better person.
