Try this for your POIS - It works
« on: December 15, 2015, 06:37:59 PM »
2 x ibuprofen and 1 x non-drowsy antihistamine (Loratadine) first thing in the morning
2 x more ibuprofen early afternoon

Let me know what you think.

My mum is a nurse and recommended it as POIS is, in some cases, an inflammation, or allergic reaction.

It worked wonders for me.

Hi, findacure,

I am glad you have found something efficient for the relief of your symptoms.

Could you give a little more information about what symptoms this regimen is helping you with?  They help you with muscle ache, with cognitive symptoms, with allergy symptoms?

Also, For how long have you been successful with it ?

Do you start you regimen before E, or after?  This could be valuable information for those interested.

I know some members have good results with ibuprofen, I think about Daveman, in particular, when niacin has not gven him complete relief.

Good job. It's another step for the inflammation theory of Pois.
I had a bad experience with Loratadine. And I didn't have real improvement with ibuprofene.
Anyway I think it's a good way to follow.

Hi, findacure --

It's great to hear that you were able to confide in your mom! From what I've read on this forum, most feel they can't confide in a family member.

I'm an RN, and I can't imagine our son telling me that he has POIS (he doesn't, fortunately). But as his mom, I'd want to know if there was something making him ill and would want to help!

Did your mom immediately accept that you had this condition? Did she find information about POIS online? If yes, where?

I hope you don't mind my asking.

Stef

It got so bad that I told both my parents. We're very open with each other, and I didn't ask to have this rare, debilitating condition so better do something than try and battle my way through life unnecessarily - Life doesn't have to be this difficult, but as I'm sure all you fellow POIS sufferers will understand, every day (during POIS periods), even the easiest tasks / social situations can be daunting.

RE the above question, my symptoms were:

Dopiness
Anxiety (from feeling dopey)
Dry / puffy eyes
Hysteria
Lack of energy
OCD symptoms
Brain fog
Severe depression
Gormlessness

My mum read into it, and being a qualified nurse and having specialised in anti-inflammatories in her studies, she said that until I get desensitization treatment, a short term fix would be to take 2 ibuprofen in the morning, 2 mid day and 2 in the evening, along with an antihistamine first thing in the morning.

Now my skin feels better, I can think more clearly and I feel 7/10 rather than 3/10.

I still suffer from chronic laziness, but am reasonably successful and proactive and battle through it.

I feel mentally sharper since being on ibuprofen, not tried stopping antihistamines yet but happy to be in a relatively normal state for once.

Hi, findacure --

Please advise -- what is "gormlessness?"

As an RN, it's a term I've not heard before.

Hi, findacure --

Please advise -- what is "gormlessness?"

Hi Stef, I had the same question.

From Wictionary:

gormlessness (uncountable) :  The quality or state of being gormless

gormless (chiefly Britain, of a person) :  Lacking intelligence, sense or understanding; foolish.

from dictionary.com:

Gormless :
adjective, Chiefly British Informal.
1. lacking in vitality or intelligence; stupid, dull, or clumsy.

Yes, POIS can cause all of the above !

Ibuprofen shouldn't be taken on a daily basis as far as I know.
33 years old, POIS for around 12 years with increasing severity.
Major symptoms - Severe fatigue, back pain, unrefreshed even after 9+ hours sleep, pain behind eyes, very dry face, bald head with inflamed scalp, digestion issues and constipation. Very low testosterone and high glucose in blood tests

Ditto that,
Recently, no more than 6 months ago, I messed up my stomach lining using Ibuprofen too frequently. It took a few days, zantac, and a bland diet to repair the damage. It wasn't severe to begin with but a very real side affect of over using ibuprofen. Be wary and careful, and if you insist continuing, be sure to go easy on the gut and take meds with food  :)  Personally I wouldn't take more frequently or in higher doses than what's recommended on the bottle, and i wouldn't take ibuprofen for prolonged periods. i.e 2 days. Happy Hunting for relief!
Current Sups: "Lean Nutraceuticals Natural Testosterone Booster. Taken as directed on bottle.
Brain Fog 100% gone. Still tired and anxious.
Clomiphene citrate - 50mg. Along with daily egg intake and probiotic foods. Drastic improvement.

Ibuprofen is bad for stomach and might be bad for heart too.
But for a one-shot test, why not.
