Kidney
« on: December 14, 2017, 03:21:05 AM »
I just did a search in this forum and was amazed that nobody talked about the kidney yet. I'm just a regular guy with no special knowledge in the medical field, unlike many others here. Connected to POIS i usually have a sort of inflamed, cramped, maybe sometimes even sort of an charley horse/muscle ache sort of feeling surrounding the kidney area and often also in the front. If i feel something i naturally try to understand and categorize that feeling and try to locate it in terms of an organ etc. But in reality the feeling may of course be caused by something else altogether. But i also think i can confidently say that overall, muscles seem to get affected by POIS.

Can anyone else identify with those sensations?

Is it possible that this pain comes from back muscles, especially deep back muscles?   In the back, in addition to superficial muscles, we have intermediate, and deep, intrinsic muscles   ( see http://teachmeanatomy.info/back/muscles/intrinsic/

Muscle pain is common in POIS, and kidney problems have not been reported so far.   It's not impossible that this could be a kidney problem, but probabilities are higher that this pain comes from the deep back muscles.

At any rate, if this is a source of concern, renal function testing and medical examination is advised.
