Getting up next morning
« on: November 21, 2016, 04:43:07 AM »
Today is another day after an O. Yesterday in the night I coudlnt feel any symptoms kicking in what happened quickly in the past - like getting a little dizzy. I fall asleep pretty fast but didnt sleep very long and woke up to early. I could feel some symptoms but no cognitive yet - which to me are the worst. In the morning still in bed I watched a movie  and still felt pretty good - no brainfog etc. I had that before. So I asked myself when does it start? Does it kick in after peeing the first time, is it after eating something? So I had too pee several times during the movie and but got back to bed again. No symptoms yet. I didnt want to eat just to check if it would kick in then... Movie was over. I took a shower etc. After that I went to my office and soon after I sat down the brainfog kicked in. Now I am in that slow thinking, difficult to speak, brainfog state and I dont understand why. Laying in bed is ok, to move is okay as well, like getting the circulation going but then when slowing down again, like when sitting,  it is when the brainfog symptoms kick in. I had this before. Good mornings but then getting full POIS Symptoms kicking in. Now I am roundabout 12 hours after the ejaculation. Do you experience something similar?
Also strange while in full POIS the size of my pupils is different. One is smaller one is bigger. I am always sensitive to coldness. I always have to pee alot.

Ni Dan,

Interesting observations.   It could be many factors, but it seems that as long as you remain calm and in a calm environment, symptoms are not triggered.  Maybe once you get in a more active environment, and then calm again, the unbalance is triggered.   It could be related to cortisol levels, or adrenergic tone, going up that down, or even the bright outdoor light.  You will have to make more observations, and try narrow down to the possible trigger.

About having a pupil larger than the other, that's a neurological symptoms.  Do you have other neurological symptoms, like migraine, or double vision, or dropped eyelid ?   This would tend to show that the oculomotor nerve on one side is affected by POIS, not unlike this can occur in a lateral migraine  ( it is this nerve that control the dilatation and contraction of the iris, so the size of the pupil).  It is maybe what is called in medical term an oculomotor nerve palsy, and not surprising, it can be caused by inflammation or auto-immune diseases ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oculomotor_nerve_palsy#Acquired_oculomotor_palsy ).  So, in my view, it is not surprising that it can be caused by POIS, because of brain inflammation, and, why not, third cranial nerve inflammation causing this nerve problem you mention.   Do you have this symptom out of POIS ?  If so, be sure to see a doctor about it, and rule out any other serious condition.

The timing could be hard to achieve, but it would be very interesting to see a doctor when while your pupil are of different size, so he could confirm what's going on.  It is rare to have an easily visible, objective effect of a POIS attack.

Hi Quantum!

Thanks for the reply! I am pretty sure it is cortisol related. When I said office I meant my own one. I didnt leave the flat for that. So there was no stress yet. Maybe being confronted with work but I dont know... I wasnt stressed yet when the brain fog started. I was still relaxed.

The different sized pupils I have since Pois started some years ago. My doctor told me that my pupils had different sizes back then. He sent me to an eye specialist who said everything is ok. He sent me to a brain scan and they also didnt find anything. I dont have the different sized pupils everyday. Since I only ejaculate once a month and it occurs only in those POIS days afterwards I am sure this is POIS related. The pupils take on really strange sizes pretty big as if I would be tripping or pretty small as well.

If I think about what did change from laying in bed till office it is the circulation and bloodflow going . And maybe a funny idea - the position of my body itself. In the office I sit. In bed my body is stretched. When walking and standing my body is stretched as well. Could something like sitting down have an influence? While sitting there could be pressure on a maybe inflamed prostate gland. Maybe I check this next time - avoid sitting on such a day - I tried strange things before - why not avoiding to sit ;-)

I forgot to say, I have no migraine or an hanging eyelid. Another pattern is the sleep behaviour. The first night I can still sleep halfway decent. The second night after I mostly have problems to sleep at all. Last night I almost lay awake the whole night. I think this is cortisol related. 3rd night will be good again - according to my pattern...
