How do I diagnose myself?
« on: October 26, 2016, 08:45:41 AM »
Okay, so here's the deal. I'm pretty sure I have POIS, just not sure what's the cause and how can I treat it. I know what kind of effects I get - they're fatigue, sore/tired eyes, sleepyness, lose of self-esteem & confidence & drive & motivation, last and most important cognitive effects like difficulty focusing, learning, memorizing, I forget words or what I was supposed to do 10 seconds ago. I am quite aware of things I experience daily, so this is not a problem to me to know exactly what my symptoms are.

Now, I live in Poland. I am 21 y/o. I don't work, I study. I have some money I get monthly, but it is enough for living, not for paying hundreds for private doctors. I live in Poland - I pay monthly from my taxes for public health service but this service will not help me out with such unknown disease as POIS, they'll just keep tossing me around other doctors etc. 1st contact public doctors aren't any good there except for writing referrals to blood tests and so on.

My plan is writing down my method of doing some tests and diagnosing myself as much as I can using the public service, then, having enough evidence, tests, trials and whatnot, go find a private doctor for which I'd have some money saved up and resolve the issue. Because if I went there directly, chances are I'll need many more multiple visits which I simply cannot sustain monetarily for.

My idea as for now would be to do blood tests, I'm couple days after orgasm and feeling like shit. I wish I could just sit home, eat, sleep and play games all day. It ain't normal for me, as weeks go by without orgasm I have drive to visit people, make my own food, play guitar, play piano, make music. Do some creative stuff. But what I need is a disease that's relatively known and for which to diagnose I'd need a blood test done for hormones. I'm gonna go to a public doctor and just present the issue, then I'd get the referral for blood tests. That's how you treat stuff in Poland if you don't have a monthly salary higher than 2x average salary.

I don't rule out psychological issue, however, I've grown out of that idea. I've been going to psychotherapist for almost a year, unrelated to issue, she knows though. And while my psychological sex issues are getting resolved, and sex is getting increasingly better both for me and my GF, the symptoms don't get weaker or subside. Sex is good enough for me to justify ejaculating sometimes.

I'm taking a 2 weeks break now from orgasmin, which my GF supports me in. I've done this before with good results, I'm also gonna get back to training kegels once I pass a few days of these symptoms (I have no strenght to do most stuff now) because I'm looking into non ejaculatory orgasm and will learn it once I get enough muscle support.

Could you guys tell me anything that I could do, right away or sometime in future, to help myself diagnose? Any other test, or personal trial/experiment with some perhaps over the counter (or not) pharmaceuticals (or not) that I can try for myself?

I'll value any help, links, anything I can read and benefit from. I have plenty of time since I don't even care for other activity right now.

Welcome to the forum, Limitbreaker!
10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business

Hi Limitbreaker, welcome to the forum!

Dig through this forum to get more information of this Rare disorder which we all are suffering. There is medical diagnosis for this condition and knowledge regarding this is almost non-existent even in developed countries like the UK where I am in. Initial research is being done by a team at Rutgers University, USA for which we are awaiting the final results. All that information again is available on this forum.

As of now all you can do is self-diagnose and try out one of the methods of reducing your symptoms. There are various treatments for the symptoms available which work with varying degrees of success for different persons. You can search here for treatments using Niacin, Fenugreek, Testosterone replacement, special diet, etc.. What will work for you can only be found using Trial and Error.

If you are taking some blood tests I would advise taking tests of the following:
Pituitary function tests like testosterone, Prolactin, thyroid, etc..
Cortisol
Blood sugar

These could give you an idea as to what is happening with the major hormones in the body. But it could be a case that they do not show anything abnormal.

Just some general guidance would be to reduce the frequency of orgasm, exercise regularly if you can, eat well. These will atleast reduce the intensity of symptoms.
33 years old, POIS for around 12 years with increasing severity.
Major symptoms - Severe fatigue, back pain, unrefreshed even after 9+ hours sleep, pain behind eyes, very dry face, bald head with inflamed scalp, digestion issues and constipation. Very low testosterone and high glucose in blood tests

Limebreaker, try taking Zyrtec 10mgs everyday, then 50mgs of benadryl within 20 seconds immediately following orgasm.  This took away my pois symptoms 100%.  Also make sure you're hydrated.  Hang in there.
